Cool Solar Attic Fan

Three of my neighbors just installed these fans. Anyone know the cost for these including installation? I know you get a 30% tax credit. How effective are they? How many years for them to pay for themselves?

We were just discussing solar fan and a solar tube last night. Was wondering about cost. I figured I would get a more honest answer from someone on this forum. Solar Guy seems to be the recommended installer.

Tankdvr gave good advise on a search

I did have Solar Guys install both a solar attic fan and solar tube and highly recommend them.

We were very pleased with our Solar Tube Installed by the Solar Guys. However we were expecting a 10%tax rebate but was told AFTER INSTALLATION AND AFTER I ASKED THE INSTALLER FOR THE TAX REBATE FORMS, that the Solar Tubes were eliminated from any tax credit with the new tax law that was signed into law in Feb 2009. GLAD to hear they are promoting the rebate for solar atttic fans

Default Solar Fans

Just put in a solar fan in my house (alittle over 2000 sq. ft) from Solar Tech and it cost us $690 and are very happy with them. A friend recommended them and they are just as happy.

In installed two solar fans in 1997 when I had the roof replaced. They are both still going strong. Never had to repair them. As you may imagine, they run every day in Hawaii.

Don't want to be nosey and ask my neighbors what they paid for their solar fan. Did a search and found one post from 4-08, saying they paid $459.00 installed from the Solar Guys.

Anyone have a current price?

My solar attic fan was $459 from the Solar Guys last July. I did have a solar tube installed at the same time.

Default Solar Fan Effectiveness

Can anyone who has a solar attic fan comment on how effective they are? Has there been a noticeable change in cooling costs? If so, how much?

Thanks,
Charlie
