Default Solar Electric Carts

Does anyone have any thoughts about these carts? Can you buy one locally?

Have looked at the Yamaha Gas with the bigger wheels for comfort and high speed gear.
Wife wants a cart without the smell.

The real issue is power (GAS), the environment (Battery) or simply personal choice. With Solar you may be saving the environment along with a couple of bucks with electric charging, but power would be lacking (big time).

We attended the environmental expo held Saturday at Lake Miona Rec Center and there were vendors there that sell the solar carts or just the solar tops. One is located in Summerfield, AAA Golf Carts, Inc. and the other in Fruitland Park, Solar Golf Carts & Scooters. One of the carts was listed at $7995 and they said you can apply for tax credits because they are solar. The solar top was around $1,700 installed and that also had a tax credit. We were mainly interested in the top but the additional distance according to one honest salesman was only around 8 miles (the brochure says up to 15) and we don't feel the cost is justified.
