Default It cost me $85 for six weeks of 2.5 hour classes.

The Lifelong Learning College is one of my favorite parts of The Villages. I took a colored pencil portrait class there and went from a sketcher to being able to put on paper what was in my head.

I had dreamed of being able to have the time to pursue art classes and it became a reality for me. I was able to do portraits of my friends grandchildren and see in their eyes that I had pleased them. It was such a fulfilling experience. I am so grateful to that school and hope to learn more.

I can't be there to see what is happening , but I hope that the opportunity to go back won't disappear for me or for anyone else. If you haven't gone, please look into it.

Default I hope it is not disbaned......

...because using the LLC is near the top of my list of reasons why I want to move to TV.

Exclamation Oh Nooooooooo!

I love The Lifelong Learning Center! Who's idea is this??? Can anyone give us anymore information! The LLC is one of the true jewels of TV! I brag about it to everyone. I've take many, many classes there and every teacher has given 110%. Please post further information so we know how to deal with this. I think we're all united on this one.

On my first day visit to TV the LLC was mentioned a lot. That was in Dec of 2007. I was even given schedules for the next term. Fast forward to Dec of 2008 and it was only mentioned if you asked. On the trolley tour it was not even mentioned. On a LSP last month it was not mentioned at all. I was just thinking about this last week as school is just about ready to start. I would hate to see it go as there are some things I was very interested in.

Default Whoa! What's this I hear?

I hesitated to comment on this because I hope it is just a rumor. But considering what Hawkwind just said here about how the LLC is not mentioned anymore, I am concerned. When we visited in October, 2007, the LLC was very much a part of the sales info. We were told all about it.

I am a terrible though earnest golfer.

I dance like Elaine on "Seinfeld."

The Lifelong Learning College has been a big draw to TV for me.

I am going to call my sales rep and flat out ask what's going on.

And I hope other potential buyers will call, too, if this is important to them.

I realize that I will be unlikely to get an answer. I am sure the sales department will not be able to comment yet. But calling and asking the question makes a point anyway.

(Lest I start sounding like I am trying to round up a posse to head 'em off at the pass, I think I had better ride off now on my high horse, for tonight.)

Boomer

The sales departmant is a dearth of current information. They work from a script, know very little about future plans for TV, and if anything they have misinformation not good information.
And please don't take this as an attack on the sales reps, they only know what they are told.

I agree. The sales rep's primary job is to sell new and pre-owned houses, and they do a very good job of providing information related to that. Addtional information is a little harder to come by.

I believe the point of the post was to not get information but to convey information back to TV. If TV management is any good (and all indications are that they are very good) they will keep their ears to the ground via feedback from the sales reps in terms of what are the hot topics for prospective buyers. If a large number of prospective buyers inquire about the status of the LLC and express dismay that it might be abandoned, then the word may filter up to the powers that be to indicate that it is a good thing to continue to offer.

That being said, if the LLC is primarily a marketing tool, I wonder what will happen to it after build-out.

Default Hopefully Not!

There are many 55+ communities where residents can golf, swim, play tennis, shuffle borad & horse shoes. All of the physical activities are healthy and attractive to the residents. One of the other healthy features of TV that is not a feature of many other communities is the LLC with its many offerings that help keep the residents mentally active. Hopefully, TV management realizes that the LLC is a vital part of the community and TV would not be the same without it.

Default I sent an email and here is the response I received.

Good morning. My name is Michelle Johnson and I am the Director of The
Villages Lifelong Learning College.

First, I would like to thank you for expressing your heart-felt interest
in TVLLC and appreciate the fact you were so concerned about our
well-being, you notified someone to inquire and express your concern
about our continual educational service to this wonderful community.

I would love to share great news with you: TVLLC has no plans of
"closing shop." We will continue to serve our residents and area
students with lifelong learning as long as there is a need for our
services. There is indeed a workshop with the AAC and the District to
discuss class space in recreation centers north of Cty. Rd. 466. The
District and TVLLC hope and are confident we will be able to come to an
agreement with the AAC board in regards to TVLLC class space north of
Cty. Rd. 466.

You are definitely invited and welcome to attend the Sept. 16 1:30pm
meeting at the Sumter Landing District Board room to help promote
lifelong learning and express your feelings about TVLLC being a viable
part of this community.

Again, thank you for supporting lifelong learning in your community. I
feel fortunate and blessed to have the career I currently hold because
of students like yourself. Feel free to contact me at any time to
discuss any TVLLC opportunity or endeavor. I may be reached at the above
e-mail address or (352) 753-3035 Monday- Friday 9am-4pm.

Have a great day!
