Question Spa on the lanai cost

After a week of planning prior to our actual design date we saw a few homes with outdoor in the ground spas (without a pool).

Called T&D twice and getting basic info was like pulling teeth, someone said call Vera.

I did she never called back, I think they R too busy.

I wanted to get a ball park of the cost just to consider the idea.

Anyone know what they cost range may be or received quotes?

Also who else install them, must be more contractors than T&D.

I questioned our designer about an in-ground hot tub with a 2' lanai stretch. He couldn't give me a firm price since the construction through TV is handled by T&D but he estimated the cost to be in the $12k - $15K range. Too rich for my blood so I passed.

Jimbo, the construction of a pool or spa at the time of your build would be with T&D. The rep is Vera Martin and she is quite knowledgeable. Her office is at the design center sales office across from Colony Plaza on 466A. When you go for your design meeting they will set up an appt for you. You need not purchase at that time and she will file your plans for a bit until you decide. The cost depends on size, birdcage, etc... It would not be possible to get a quote until they can see your house positioned on your plat of survey. Then they measure on site as well in order to make your quote. Her # is 352-267-4094

So than it wouldn't be included with the home purchase?

It is included with the purchase as part of the total, but T&D is a separate entity and quotes their own price. The payment is part of your total purchase price and is in the contract. However, your discount will NOT include that quote. It is based on the house and land only...

Smile Love our spa

Sorry can't help you on price. But we love our spa. We are golf front on Palmer and watch the sand cranes, herons, ducks etc. and beautiful sunsets from our spa.

Not exactly the anwser to your question, but....we were shopping at T&D this afternoon. Just a little something we picked up was that an inground spa won't/can't have as many jets as an above ground spa. They have one exception. They have one large spa they can install in a "vault" in the ground. The lady at T&D said that was in the $20,000 range. Doesn't mean inground has to be that expensive, just if you want lots of jets AND inground, that's what they are offering.

Not including the bird cage I thought the cost range would be $7500-10K,

Cut a hole in the concrete pad or have it poured with an opening at the time of build, run electric and drop in a fiberglass spa...

I think TD does concrete spas, plus pump, filter, propane heater, +....seems to add up closer to $15-20k

I think one of their spas is in a model home (Lantana) in the Sanibel section. It can be viewed on the model home page virtual tour, model tour A for the Lantana. Can't link it here as I am on IPad... That one also includes the pool, but you can see it anyways. I also believe you can get electric heat pump.

Well if I do this project I'll use a couple of solar roof top units,
I guess since the cost is higher than expected I do it a few months after we move in or next fall.

Are there any building code considerations you have to comply with? Fence around spa? Self closing doors? etc.

You need to alarm your sliders or any entry from the house to the pool/spa area. But I am not 100% certain if that pertains to a spa only. I added a birdcage so perhaps that suffices as "fence or enclosure?"

Not sure but on the lanai door I saw on one house the door latch was mounted about 4+ feet high, suppose to keep small kids from gaining access easily.

Spoke to ARC they saw no issues but need to call building dept to know any rules.
