They can spoof any number when they call. I had a scammer call using my bank's phone number, telling me I had fraud in my account. They wanted to know my login credentials. I told them I would call them back on the displayed number. There was no fraud in the account, and I don't give login credentials to anyone. I use caller ID, and if I don't know them, they can leave a voicemail.

All that and I still am bombarded with those stinkin' messages. How many different phone numbers can they have?

How do I put a final stop????? HELP!!!
Look it up on YouTube. On my iPhone I can actually block any calls/texts from an entire area code.

2-3 calls a day and 2-3 text messages a day...finally I had enough after checking my phone during golfing one day. So after much research, I picked "Known Calls" spam blocker from google play app. Immediately all those calls disappeared.

If it is not in your contact list, it is blocked and sent to voicemail. Now when a spam call happens - no ringing, no text, the phone number just shows up in my recent call list as blocked. I can then decide if I want to call it or research the number on google.

I just looked at my "recents" and this morning at 730am got a call from 847 area code again, 2 on saturday and 2 on friday. The number is from a home warranty company. 863 & 305 area codes are running neck and neck with one call from each every day, various times, car warranty service and roofing estimate. Weird, no new car and new roof in 2023. No running to the phone anymore thinking it is one of my kids back up north.

I love Spam, especially al large 22lb Spam on Thanksgiving, dug out and stuffed with dressing. And a couple of old dog bones stuck in the sides to make family think it's a turkey.

Caller ID can easily be faked. There are apps and cards. I think Amazon sold spoof cards at one time. It sounds so cynical to say never trust your caller ID, but never trust your caller ID. The best tool is the simplest tool, hang up or delete.

I canceled my landline a few years back, not because of cost but because it became useless due to telemarketing, even after registering on the very effective ( Do not call program). I personally think our electronic communications technologies are just amazing but are slowly and surely being ceded to marketing and people trying to scam money from people who might not understand what is happening. Maybe it is time to apply our very effective (Do not call program) to our internet system before it also becomes useless.

If you have ATT, there is a service that you can add to your account that is free for most people. Its called ActiveArmor and has a corresponding app you can download. ActiveArmor blocks a ton of spam\robo calls and texts, but if one get through you just click on a few buttons and it blocks future calls from that number for you. If enough complain about a number, ATT proactively blocks calls for all customers.

The nice thing is there are very few blocked numbers on my phone as most are blocked at the carrier level.
