I've not gone. My cart is set to the LEGAL LIMIT which is 20 mph. Far as I know, if your cart is SET faster than that you must have PLATES on it, be a licensed driver AND HAVE INSURANCE. Yes, it is easy to turn up the speed. THERE ARE FEW THAT WILL ADMIT THEY ARE WRONG. Sadly, may will dismiss my thought but........... You may want to check. If, your cart is set for more than the LEGAL 20 MPH and you are involved in an accident even if you of course think it is not your fault LEGALLY IT IS YOUR FAULT. If, someone is injured. If, you have insurance YOU HAVE VOIDED YOUR INSURANCE. The golf cart paths are crowded. MOST of the carts are doing the LEGAL 20 mph. The paths are designed for at most 20 mph. BETWEEN ALL THE TIMES THAT YOU ARE FORCED TO SLOW DOWN FOR LEGAL DRIVERS. ALL THE STOPS AS YOU CROSS STREETS. HOW MUCH FASTER THAN 20MPH DO YOU THINK YOU ACTUALLY GO? HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU TICK OFF? HOW MANY PEOPLE DO YOU ENDANGER? THINK- |

There have been eight or nine fatalities while driving or riding in a golf cart in TV. Zero have been attributed to a speeding golf cart. Tagging all golf carts----slippery slope for sure.
"Government exists to protect us from each other. Where Government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves". Ronald Reagan That said, 30 mph in a golf cart is a bit too fast for me to feel comfortable driving or riding in a golf cart. Fore!

we visited a development in Kissimmee called Solavita.. their golf carts had registering numbers and the people we talked to had no problems with it. accidents were very rare. I know they have fewer carts than we do but the plan works..

Passing is legal, unless its done in an unsafe manner. I am not promoting or damning carts going a few miles over 20mph. I do believe 30mph is too much for a cart. I believe like on any roadway sometimes drivers just have to make their move in order to thin out the bottle neck and so a little extra speed is a + Would you suggest that all drivers subordinate themselves and move no faster than the cart in front of them? We have some 90 + miles of MMP's and over 55,000 carts in TV and its growing. The Villages lifestyle has greatly altered the use and need of golf carts. Look at the logistics, especially once they connect Fenney. The nation increased the speed limits on many highways because interstate travel placed a demand on the need This "we have always done it that way" thinking needs another look. To a few here going 1/10 of mph more is a mortal sin deserving of severe punishment, with a few posters actually exhibiting schadenfreude at the aspect that a golf cart owner be fined for driving an unregistered cart Personal Best Regards: |

In Fl its illegal to cross a solid white line to pass--the only acceptable reasons are to turn left and to avoid an accident--crossing a solid white is the same as a car crossing a solid yellow line
And to people ranting about cars going 5mph over the posted speed limit--in Fl you will only receive a warning for 5mph or less over the posted speed limit-in all reality LEO's will only issue tickets for 9MPH+---thats when the $$$ kicks in |

Speding in a golf cart is not a big deal, done safely , reckless driving is always dangerous those that complain about speeding carts probably complain about everything in their lives, restaurant food or service grocery store lines , slow play golf ETC.

RELAX! Can't/shouldn't legislate everything! Stupid is stupid. They will get theirs eventually. Want a new law, move to Washington?

While I agree about the speeding golf carts, more alarming are the number of adults allowing young kids under 12 to operate the carts. In addition, so many hold infants on their laps. If the driver jams on the brakes, what happens to the child when the adult naturally braces for potential impact? The speeders that are most alarming are the delivery people and lawn people, and YES, C2MHill in many cases are guilty of 45 in a 20 zone. There are people walking, biking, jogging etc in a community with NO sidewalks and dealing with UPS women and men taking corners on 2 wheels. It has truly become a gauntlet of craziness on our streets and paths. We have observed that if the local deputies started writing some tickets, maybe the madness will tone down while helping the local government budgets.

Look at the people who run red lights and don’t even know or follow the traffic laws in their cars. They have major health problems, cataracts, post stroke, early dementia, DUI, suspended licenses. All the adult kids who live there that have criminal records, etc, and you’re wanting golf cart cops. How about worrying about the cars and all the adult kids, and lawn care guys with their big trailers who speed through the housing areas first.

All compliance has dropped off in the last two years - cars and carts. We live on Rio Grande race track and seldom is anyone driving the speed limit unless they are following me. Commom sense and some respect for those who live along these access roads! Only enforcement will have any effect. Hit them in the wallet. Maybe a stop sign at every intersection woukd help. Even the three way intersections. If they have to pause, cause they don't stop, it might help. After all quiet, speed and consideration are some of the very reasons we moved here. SLOW DOWN PLEASE. By the way speeding is not restricted to our main roads. Many speed on our interior roads as well. It will continue unless someone enforces the rules! Entitled is an understatement.
