Not to mention the extra cost they get for stainless steel.
A real rip-off.

My wife was non-plussed when stainless steel appliances first hit the market and took off. But if you wanted to buy new appliances or sell your home, you have to go with the trends.

In the long run, these appliances have not been the issue we thought they would be. Granted, our appliances are not the low end of the purchase price but they clean up nicely with a quick wipe with the dishcloth that's been wetted in Dawn dishwater. (We dumped the dishwasher as soon as we moved in seeing there are only two of us most of the time.) The appliances all still look great and we'll use them until the end. I think black appliances are making a comeback and they are just about as much work with every smudge showing.

Default We like or stainless appliances

My wife and I love our stainless appliances. We use the handles as intended and never touch the stainless. Almost never have to clean them, and if we do, a damp towel gets the job done. Much ado about nothing.

I never meant to imply that it was impossible that a refrigerator was clad in aluminum - especially a mini-fridge. My point was that a magnet won't necessarily tell you whether it's stainless or aluminum.

Also, Lowe's specs aren't exactly gospel on every item they sell.
