Why worry about what others are DOING. We are ultimately responsible for our own decisions.
Just having a conversation. I do wonder what most of the thoughtful and smart people who post on here are doing. Are they staying home more? Are they wearing masks indoors? Are they just being free as a PRE-pandemic bird?

Madeleine is wearing Masks again. Good plan.

Some say the variant needs the "really serious" mask. I don't think we have any of those. Each day I read and listen to the news and try to sort out the valid sources. I must admit that I am so tired of the pandemic.

How sick is the sick that old and vaccinated get?? MOST of the time? If you are not quite overweight and have breathing problems. Just kind of regular old person like me.

I am not interested in being sick...........IF I CAN AVOID IT. Or try to avoid it.

Please don't jump on me. I am mostly nice.

Yes, you are nice and I like reading your posts. I'll direct you to the Daily Sun, page A 12, top left corner under nation and world news.
I respectfully ask: What is your opinion? Should the U.S. restrict those coming from South of the border whose vaccination history is unknown?

I'm not interested in laws and directives. I want to know what people who I respect on this forum think they will do today and tomorrow about this rampant escalation of Covid cases and the fact that is clear that even vaccinated, we can get SOMETHING that will make us sick. Are they staying home again? Are they going out and wearing masks? If so are they getting the professional masks? I'm told Delta can walk right though plain old cloth.

That is true, but it is also true of the original variant of Covid if you take the time to actually research the science instead of relying upon the news programs. The cloth masks and many, probably most, of the paper masks you see people wearing provide little, if any, protection against Covid and its variants.

We were going out without facemask, for a while, until this variant sprung up from the unvaccinated, and now we are back to wearing masks indoors.

Unfortunately, there are those who believe they have no responsibility with freedoms in a society. Locke talked about freedoms in nature, that we are all born with, but in nature one has to fend and defend themselves, and can't rely on society helping out with anything. In society freedoms always come with responsibilities.

Fauci told you the truth the first time, when he said masks, other than N95, were ineffective. The covid virus has always been able to "walk right through" cloth masks. Surgical masks are only slightly more efficient. I've seen many comment that youtube videos prove that masks prevent the infected from expelling the virus. It's just not true.

Cloth masks do stop some of the large globules of water born virus, these fall to the ground fairly quickly anyway. However, I have read recent studies where they measured actual virus globules and aerosols from infected individuals wearing a mask. Only 15% of virus emissions were globules, 85% were aerosols. Aerosol covid virus is about 5000 times smaller than the holes in cloth masks, so they indeed walk right through. They also are very light and can remain in the air and viable for 3 hours.

Here's a graphic from an exhaustive review of covid aerosols, masks etc. It doesn't show emissions with a cloth mask, but the cloth masks are only 50% as effective as surgical masks. As you can see, plenty gets through. Read the study if you like, you might learn something.

Transmission of COVID-19 virus by droplets and aerosols: A critical review on the unresolved dichotomy

Since the delta variant can carry 1000% more viral load, and 85% of viral emissions are aerosols, you can do the math. When covid started the CDC said that most infections happen indoors in close contact with an infected individual for 10 minutes or more. I believe with Delta it is less than a minute.

Since being fully vaccinated since January, I was starting to go out to eat etc but with delta breakthrough cases being reported I have stopped. I have never trusted the masks to protect me, so just avoided going indoors with other people. Like you I hate to get sick, even a cold, and I know it's not likely that the Delta will kill or even hospitalize me. However, I have a friend who had covid last year and came through it with one caveat. His sense of taste and smell have not returned. I can't imagine not being able to taste and smell food etc.

The laws and directives recently imposed are in place to keep us from living our lives in a free society. Control the truth and the sheep will follow. If you feel safe wearing a mask every minute of your day, have at it. Get an extra jab and you're good to go.

There aren't laws and directives that could keep any of us from going anyplace that I know of. No one is directing us to wear masks at the rec centers or the grocery stores. At the doctors we are asked to wear them.

I am not asking about being bossed around. I just don't see anyone trying to direct me at all. I don't want to get sick and I don't want to spread it.

I wear a mask when required or requested, as I think it reassures a lot of people, and makes them feel safer.
We are doing pretty much as normal otherwise.
My biggest worry at moment is whether my Dahlias, will last until Saturdays Garden show, or my onions will be big enough to compete!
Virus is definitely on back burner at moment.

Another video it’s about the aerosol droplets how the virus is transmitted. Dr. Galvin responds to the viral Dr Dan Stock video - YouTube

“ At the doctors we are asked to wear them.”. I’m not a professional patient and visit Dr Office only when necessary. Does anyone have a Dr that doesn’t require masks on recent visits?

Maybe stay well might be more apropos here in The Villages, particularly if you get sick and need hospitalization. We haven’t heard sirens or helicopters arriving at The Villages Regional Hospital for almost two weeks now. A close friend came back from a doctor’s appointment yesterday with the report that both hospitals in Tavares are closed to any new patients.

Tavares is the Lake County seat and the hospitals there are the next closest to The Villages. Other than the information that none of the hospitals anywhere near The Villages are doing elective surgeries and procedures, no reports on whether they’re even accepting new patients. And of course there’s not even a mention of COVID topics in The Villages Daily Sun. If anyone has current information in whether any of the hospitals in Ocala or other nearby hospitals are open to ER or other new patients, feel free to let us know.

But I guess it bears repeating… Stay well out there! It looks like we’re all pretty much on our own for awhile.
The need for nurses is getting desperate in hard hit areas.
