I had the same situation, I called the police and had the person trespassed from my property. The officer told me you can have someone trespassed from your property for any reason he didn't want to see the video.

Unfortunately, from the District:

The District does not have purview over the enforcement of animal-related concerns, including leash laws and trespassing by pets. For assistance and enforcement, these issues must be addressed directly through Sumter County Animal Control, as they are the appropriate authority to handle such cases. As far as trespassing, that is a matter for Sumter County Sheriff’s Office as well.

Though not likely the issue for OP, however if the Sumter County link is accurate, then the challenge may be what constitutes "control".... I see plenty of neighborhood dogs taking liberties on my lawn, however the owners are quick to recover deposits, so no harm.

"All domestic animals must be under direct control or on a leash when off the owner’s property".

Default Deterrent if you can't get enforcement

Amazon.com

I saw that someone posted a similar item, but when we were having issues at another home with wildlife (esp raccoons) causing damage in our backyard, the wild animal wrangler we used recommended a specific make/model for it's effectiveness. We got two, set them up with overlapping sprays, and it has worked like a charm. They react to body heat, and the sprays can be set for only night (or day, or all the time). It takes some testing to get heat sensor range and spray directions correct, and since it would be between your houses I'd advise getting your neighbors involved.

Last edited by yporter; Today at 07:57 AM. Reason: Got so involved with message that forgot to include the link to that specific model

Sad, so the Villages po po roaming the neighborhood only picks up accumulating Sunny papers and lets you know your garage door has been up for more than an hour?

That is an unfair characterization.

PoPo CW also provides clown services at the various gates throughout The Villages, whose responsibility appears to be waving people through, negating the purposes of the gates in the 1st place.

The cost of this valuable service, is barely $10,000,000.

If you really want some entertainment, attend a District Budget session and listen to Nehemiah Wolfe justify the CW Budget. He can tell you exactly how many garage doors CW can observe per minute, how many justify a phone call and the weight of all the newspapers they pick up. Bring Lunch, you might have to spend most of the day once he starts talking. You'll swear you've been listening to Lieutenant Howard Hunter, solving all of NYC's problems.

Sumter County Animal Control nor the local police were of any help. We clean up after our own tiny dog because we don’t want to step on poop on our lawn, but yet we would find her big dogs deposits throughout our lawn. She would do this at night and on occasion scared the hell out of us because we were bringing out the garbage and weren’t expecting anyone coming between the houses. She denied it all. So, it took me putting up cameras and bringing proof to her husband to have it stop. BTW… when I mentioned to the police that perhaps I should hide behind a bush and hose her down. They said “well then we’d have to arrest you”. Go figure… Good luck!
Buy a sponge at the grocery store, cut into bite size chunks, coat them with bacon grease, scatter on the lawn and your stray dog issues will be gone, the offending human will be punished, and the emergency veterinary folks will have some extra money. Terrible for the dog, but it will likely survive.

What kind of a person would intentionally hurt an animal? I'm pretty sure I know, but we do have to be civil here.
