Sumter County Reciprocal borrowing privileges??
Has anyone lately with a Sumter County Library card tried to check out books/DVDs/CDs/ etc. from any of the Tampa Bay Library Consortium participating libraries? Here's a list of those libraries-- http://www.tblc.org/reciprocal/patron_libraries.php
I just checked my account that I had at the Oldsmar Public Library near Tampa and they seemed to have removed it. I have not used it for over a year so maybe they purged anyone who has not used their library over a certain amount of time. Just wondering if any other TOTVers use TBLC libraries as reciprocal borrowers? This option only seems available to Sumter County library card holders as Marion and Lake County library users seem to have reciprocal borrowing agreements with libraries to the east. http://www.lakeline.lib.fl.us/progra...borrowing.aspx The Sumter County Library System's agreements seem to be to the southwest of FL. Maybe Sumter County Library System dropped out of the TBLC participating library group could be another explanation for my account being dropped from the Oldsmar Public Library. Looks like a Sumter County library card holder can use all these libraries.

This probably varies from library to library though as it looks like each library can decide what to do for each potential reciprocal borrower. What happened with my account disappearing from Oldsmar is my three years of registration at that library came to an end. Three years passes quickly when you are in TV. Funny that Hillsborough Library System (Tampa's) seems to have pulled out of the Reciprocal Borrowing contract. |
