Default Thanks to all you villagers..we just returned from a 9 day trial visit & we loved it!

My wife and I just returned from a 9 day trial visit of the villages and we fell in love with it. We had stopped at TV last summer and stayed for 3 days at the Waterfront Inn to see what we thought. We didn't have activity passes for that trip. We liked it more than we thought we would so we rented a patio villa for this year's visit.

We're from Hershey, PA, and we're ballroom dancers. So we had more activities to participate in than we could do. Every person we met was so nice and friendly and seemed so happy. Everywhere we went we were asked to join people at their table, whether it was at dances or outside Starbucks in the square. We came home with 9 business cards from people we met who asked us to contact them if we return to TV.

We met with a realtor and toured model homes. We were blown away by the beauty of TV. But more than the beauty, the activities, etc., the thing that we were amazed by the most was the kindness and friendliness of you residents. We never thought we would move from our current location, but you are the reason we're going to be moving to TV as soon as possible (unfortunately we can't move yet because we have a mother with dementia in a nursing home here in PA.) Everyone seems so happy. I found I was a kinder and happier person while I was there because of you all, and I like that about myself.

We realize that no place is perfect (we did meet one gentleman who told us we should look elsewhere because TV is getting too big and they're going to run out of water.) But we figure if we can live out the rest of our lives in a paradise like TV, we'll deal with whatever comes along.

We plan to return for a Lifestyle visit next March. Please don't change being the kind, wonderful, and friendly people you are.

Thanks for the nice report card Tango, and yes we may complain about this, that and the other, but it really is a great place to live.

You won't regret your decision to come. It's amazing how much younger everyone feels when they come. Bring mom. Plenty of facilities here.

We bought in 2012, retired beginning of 2017, still can't wipe the smile from my face.

The friends we have made have been incredible!

While TV is not perfect, it's as close to heaven as I will get here on earth!

While we see our kids and grandkids often (a short 6.5 hour drive), I always love coming back to our forever home.

Did you drink the Koolaide? We left for 3 years after being in The Villages for 13 years. Now we are moving back, couldn't get the Koolaide taste out of our mouth

I am really interested in your move from here and then your move back to here, what exactly is the difference? I am not just being nosy (well I am really), but I am interested because so many times I will get the urge to live closer to my children and grandchildren, but something stops me from making the move.

If I tell you that I really really miss growing my own Northern big boy tomatoes, or my own pole beans, asparagus, zucchini. Seeing daffs and tulips and crocus in the spring etc., it sounds really stupid. But, on the other hand, I do not miss the black flies, the mosquitoes, the very cold winters, the snow, the mud season and on and on.

What is really bringing you back?

I have been here 4 years and still love it! It's not perfect but darn close! Their will always be one or two grumpy's that will complain about something but could 120,000 to eventually 150,000 people, be wrong?

I don't know if bringing your mom would work for you but it's a nice idea.

It's as close to paradise without the dying part.

Thanks for your kind comments. The closest description we can think of is that it is almost like a friendly campground atmosphere.

Welcome to the Senior's Happy Place...every day is a happy one. Happy people, more activities than you can possible take part it, great climate (most of the time), all rolled into one. We still maintain our home in upstate New York to come back to in the summer, but find we miss the "action" and friendliness of TV when we aren't there. So, come back, if able, try staying a month, and figure out where is the best place to move to. It's different for everyone, but wherever you choose, you'll find friendly, happy seniors enjoying their daily lives instead of letting life pass them by.
You won't regret your decision!

I enjoyed reading your thoughts, observations, and feelings about your visit. It reminds me of myself, not only the first time I visited TV, but every time I go there. Thank you for taking the time to put it into words and sharing it with the rest of us. I hope your plan to live out the rest of your life in TV becomes a reality for you sooner rather than later.

Here's a couple of more:
1. Disneyland for adults.
2. Being on a cruise ship and never having to get off.
3. Living the life of a millionaire without being one.

I am a native Floridian, our kids and grandkids live in Florida, my sister and cousins all live in Florida. We have no one in Wisconsin. We left the Villages and moved back here because we have a place on a lake and love the place. Now we would rather be in Florida. The Villages just happens to be in the middle of where the kids are.
