I get it that all are welcome to express how they fell but all the negativity has become a mass that outweighs any positivity.
Yes its 2023 and the days of seeing performers we are "used to" have come and gone. The younger generation expresses themselves in ways many of us don't understand (or care to) but I remember when I was growing up and my parents would say much of what is said here on this forum. I may not be as old as some out here but it's be time to embrace some change and open ourselves up to new things.

Go Steelers!!!
I for one am always reading and listening for new ideas, trends, etc. I personally do not see embracing gestures considered vulgar in most cultures, as a mark of NOT accepting "new ideas". I agree, turn it off. But, I think you might be reading a bit too much into perfectly interesting, stimulating, discussions on this forum. Much of what you are filtering through your perceptions, are actually not "complaints" at all. If you read most a second time, you begin to understand the difference in a fact and a perception. By understanding this, you begin to understand people, and how each comes from a different framework of experience that shapes them and their opinions. And THAT is the beginning of rational thought.

Prophetic of you.... I think you are 100% accurate about the future.. but I hope I am wrong ! As an undergrad, I used to wonder how in world many of my professors could be sooooo cynical. Later, in grad school, I understood a bit more, understood that experiences and what you observe through life, can't be denied. Finally, I came to the conclusion that any rational, thinking, analyzing person, can not prevent being what is called "cynical", you can only deny what is happening around you for so long...

I thought you'd like to know that I just got off the phone with the Commish, (or "Rahdj", as I call him) and he was shocked, SHOCKED! I tell you, that the halftime show wasn't universally embraced among The Villages' demographic. He said he thought they'd, to use his words "nailed it."
Go figure.

Lots of dancers.
But maybe I could understand 5 or 6 words from all the songs belted out.
Anyone else have that issue??
I thought it was great. The coordiation of the dancers and the logistics to have the show up high at different levels was amazing.

Example: have you ever been at a stop sign in your auto with the windows down, and with young grand children in the car ? Had a car pull up beside you with the windows down and the sound turned up to such a level that the CAR actually VIBRATES .... and had to get the windows up quickly before a young child hear the unbelievably filthy language of the "songs", the words used for "women", for "sex", for prostitution, the words used to describe police officers ? What a world ! If people did not love this type of thing so dearly, no one would record it because it would not sell !
I always wonder about the loud cars and car stereos that drive around here. Should NOT the Police get involved because it can cause distracted driving by others and at some high volume, it ought to be illegal? Also, are NOT the other drivers sitting at a red light entitled to have privacy and be able to have conversations within their vehicles - who is looking out for their rights - should it NOT BE society in the form of Police enforcement.
.......And what about the COST to society when these LOUD drivers lose their hearing and they become somewhat handicapped by their own doing? It IS a good example of a stupid, strange, unproductive situation.

Most of the SB halftime performances of late reek of vulgarity. Nobody can perform without crotch grabbing a few times. These acts are disgusting.

You can watch that crap all day on your TV set, so why bring it to an important game like the Superbowl, uncalled for.

LOL. Lip-synced or live, she still has an accent!

I loved it. Rihanna's songs are amazing; though I agree that at times the sound quality of the half time show's audio left something to be desired; sometimes that's an unfortunate reflection of the televised sound carry-through versus how it sounded in person at the event, But still, I could hear most of her lyrics; but then, I know her songs. Some of her songs are pop music; some are more hip-hop. I think people in our generation would like current pop music, in general, more than hip-hop.

Whether or not she was lip-syncing (as has been claimed to have occurred with a number of prior super bowl halftime performances), Rihanna is a wonderful singer and performer; which is why she's been a star for two decades - starting when she was a teenager - and is the second best selling female artist of all times.

The choreography done by the large number of dancers was intricate, very exertional, very skillfully done; and amazingly synchronized. I'm amazed that anyone who would watch the dancing objectively would not agree with this.

I have always followed whatever is current pop, and I love most of it; it is melodic, musical, catchy, and rhythmic. (A good source is Pop Culture Radio, available on Amazon Echo, etc; ask Alexa to play 'current pop'). Our age group needs to be more open to it, and is missing out on decades of a lot of good music. (As distinguished from hip-hop, rap, and current R&B, most of which I don't like; a problem with our generation is that many people, because they listen mostly to oldies, and stopped listening to current pop music long ago, lump all of these genres into the term 'pop' music, and think that all pop music sounds like rap/hip-hop).

Why some music is not on my play list, the logistics of the floating stage was pretty amazing in my opinion on a football field. Our granddaughter teaches hip hop and had the opportunity to dance with the late Twitch, loved the performance.

Getting that many dancers all in sync, and the white was the perfect background for her red outfit. As for her clothing style, age very much comes into why you were unhappy with the choice. Many come from the age of women wore tents when they were pregnant, mostly hiding for 9 months.

In todays world women celebrate being pregnant, are proud to show how their body is adapting to bringing new life in the world. My parents would be appalled at a pregnant performer on TV for all the world to see. Me not so much, daughter loved it, oldest boy not a fan of her, but younger boy likes her music, also thought the stages were amazing.

Grandkids have “R” on their play list along with 70’s music they grew up listening to.

So age really does factor in if you, hated half time or liked it.

Default We are not the target audience

If our generation was the target audience the halftime show would be different. Alas, it will never be what we want to see or hear again.

It is. A law was passed in Florida last year as I recall that makes it illegal to play music (I use the term "music" loosely...) in your car so loud that it is discernable from I believe 25 feet away.

Some people were up in arms over the law, claiming that it could be used by police to initiate a stop when no other reason existed and thus could be used as an harassment technique.
