No one knows what’s in the pool! I was told salt then told only a few pools have salt. Some pool attendants didn’t know others went to check and came back to say no one had a clue.
Most have chlorine was the final consensus. I’ve been in a pool every day for 2 months, everyone is social distancing with no issues.

Of course there are those who know what is in the pools. The rec assistants would not be who I would ask.

I'm no pool expert, but Google helps:

I saw several bags of calcium hypochlorite next to the pool filtration equipment at the Cattail pool. Here are some facts about the chemical:

Fast-acting Calcium Hypochlorite chlorine granules provide 68% available chlorine for your pool.

Granules can be used in swimming pools, spas and hot tubs.

Provides powerful, effective sanitizing power for all needs.

Kills bacteria, algae and other organic contaminants.

Clears cloudy water or dull water appearance.

Suitable for residential or commercial pool treatment.

Vinyl pools should pre-dissolve Cal-Chlor into a bucket of water.

Salt water pools use the salt to create chlorine as the water is pumped through the pool equipment’s hydrolizer. As the water goes back into the pool the chlorine starts breaking down back into salt. The water is cleaned without having to have high amounts of chlorine constantly in the water. So the water itself should be relatively safe, but it’s people you need to worry about. You still need to social distance in or out of the pool since masks are not likely being used there. Be safe!

How crowded are the water aerobics classes and water volleyball?
Do you need to wait long to get a spot?

That is what the water filtration system is for. Plus, there is a LOT of water to dilute anything that may "leak" into the water.

There is a big filtration system that does all that. I trust the system to get it right.

I swim laps (Freestyle stroke) and my face is always in the water with the exception of every third stroke when I take a very quick breath. I exhale while my face is in the water.

Obviously you don’t play water volleyball...

Dont use pool if you are sickly. Stay home. 80% will have no symtoms and sail through Covid with no problem. 15% will have symptoms similary to a cold or flu. 5% may need to see a doc or go to hospital. So, let the 95% live.

Well, don't use the pools, but leave us, the ones who do use them alone. PERIOD!

Since you’re at a distance from the pool itself, you can’t tell that the players are at least 5 feet apart from each other and we’re outside. We are not on top of each other and, believe me, we can move. I play WVB and all the players are very conscious about this virus and keeping each other safe.
