If you would not allow spray paint grafitti on the front of your house or Mercedes, Lamborghini, or BMW, then why would you paint grafitti on your own body??

It is a sign of the times but I guess I am old fashioned that way.
To each his/her own but not for me.

It's interesting to me that almost anytime someone asks for information on this forum, so many members are quick to "speak up" and give their opinion (usually negative) rather than answer the question - if they have an appropriate response.
My father always used to tell us, "don't open your mouth before engaging your brain" which equates to me that some things are better left unsaid. I often tell my better half, if the day comes that I start acting negative and miserable about everything and everybody, like I so often see on here, to please put me out of my misery. So many nonsense (and often negative) opinions about tattoos, smokers, whether we wear shorts or not in the winter, which restaurants suck and why, golf cart traffic enforcement..and on and on.. There, I've shared my thoughts too, and behaved like so many others...jeesh. (Sorry dad, I didn't listen this time) Uh, no Idea where a good place is to get a tattoo, but hey..go for it! Great idea regardless of what your neighbors and "friends" on here think. Live your life and enjoy it till it hurts. I for one, do not judge people based on the color of their tattooed skin. |

Now I'll chime in on the negative comments regarding tattoos: If you don't want 'em, don't get 'em. If you don't like seeing them, don't look. Finally I'll raise a question: Why would you pre-judge anybody for any reason? Some of the kindest, most intelligent people I know have tattoos and some of the biggest dirtbags I have ever met do not. Pre-judging someone for having a tattoo is akin to pre-judging someone based on their religion, where they come from, or what kind of car they drive (I left out the color of someone's skin because there is no choice in that). The word "prejudge" is the root of the word prejudice, something the world needs a lot less of. Why would anyone knowingly want to be prejudiced? My momma always told me, "never judge a book by its color" and I've tried to live by this creed for all of my life.

As far as tattoos, I just don't see a woman with a pretty flower, mermaid, heart tattoo, etc. as "trashy." I have seen some terrible tattoos, but try to judge the tattoo and not the person.

I think the perception of tattoos has definitely change over the years, although one wouldn't know it by this thread. Way back in the 60's and 70's tattoos represented being rebellious and not many people had them.
Have you ever noticed how many young kids have tattoos? A lot of them do and they consider it an art form. For some it is a art. Most tattoos are representative of some kind of meaning to the person that engraved it on their skin. Lots of stories behind those tattoos. My husband for example got one a few years ago of our family. Its beautiful, and when people inquire or comment he is more than happy to tell the story how the ink on his arm represent everything he loves in life.
