I’ve been waiting for 16 months for a refund on an amended federal return. I finally received a letter that I would get the refund in two to four weeks. That was five months ago. I’m still waiting I finally contacted Daniel Webster’s office for assistance. That is one of the services your elected reps provide. Go here for assistance:

Help with a Federal Agency - United States Congressman Daniel Webster

Thank you for this link. I am shocked to read on here how many others besides myself are going through this.

To me, this has been a no brainer for many years. Never, ever ask the IRS to send you a refund check. It is a red flag. If you overpay your taxes, there is a line on the Form 1040 to apply that amount to the next year tax return. And, if you are retired, you can decline all withholding of taxes and make your own quarterly payments of estimated taxes. With proper financial management, you should know how much you will owe in taxes.

Note that your fourth estimated tax payment is not due until January 15 of the year after the end of the tax year. So, you can actually complete your tax return and know almost exactly what your taxes will be before making the last estimated payment.
