Question Pitch and Putt Golf

This past weekend there was a picture in the newspaper showing three people celebrating a Hole In One on the 10th Hole at the Richmond Pitch and Putt Golf Course. Really!!!

Appreciate comments ! Just Curious

Next we will be celebrating Holes In One on Putt -Putt Courses.????

I listened to one brag today, about an Executive Course HIO. It's like everything else in life today, everyone wants a "participation medal".

Those of us who have legitimate ones, have the "real thing".

I have 13 full shot "hole outs" from the Fairway (which if you're a golfer, you know are usually more difficult). It won't be long before there's a new name for fairway hole outs & folks will be wanting plaques.

I agree. I only have one hole-in-one, and that was in 1978. But using the equipment of that era, it was 198 yards with a 5 iron, so I think it definitely falls in the "legitimate" category. If we count hole outs from 100 yards in, like you I have dozens. And I can't count how many times I hit it through the windmill into the clowns mouth, but apparently some "celebrators" can.

Well if you are going to denigrate someone else's joy, you should discount any golfing achievements you have unless you played "from the tips". After all, anything less than that is "friendly golf".

You're right, it might be the achievement of a lifetime for some, especially a beginner. Mea culpa. And BTW, I only play the "tips" maybe once a month now, the last time in the Bahamas just before they played the Korn-Ferry tour event there. It was only 7200 yards, but the wind was a huge factor. You have to admire the pro golfers, just breaking par there is an accomplishment.

Have you ever celebrated your favorite sports team winning an event ? Why ? You did not play. Just curious.

I have 5 holes in one. 75 yds 115 yds 130 yds 145 yds and 150 yds. They all cost me money for the post celebration libations. Question which ones do not count so I can request for some of my celebration money back.

I don't ever play the tips. As a courtesy to the people behind me (that's a joke, son), but never had the game for it. Well, that's not entirely true, in some amateur events I qualified into flights that required it, where it then became evident I was in over my head.
As I approach 70, I'm finding more and more courses are too much from me from the whites. I fear the Greens are just a birthday away.

Related question: Those shot-their-age scores published in the Sun, are they gross or net? You know, 87 year-old posts an 86. Great, but gross or net? This is why I want to still ne playing at age 100.

Maybe they were celebrating that they could walk an 18 hole course. When is the last time any of us achieved that feat?

So what do the pros call it when they hole a "legitimate" tee shot on a Par-3?

That's what I thought.

At least we don't need a new name for people who are always ragging on others.

A classic "Village" hole in one! Hit a shot that never gets more than 3 feet off the ground and watch it roll and roll and roll... Until it rolls on the green and happens to go in the hole...

I saw a lady get TWO of them one day, while playing with my wife @ Sarasota... They were her 10th and 11th holes in one... And she had only been playing just over a year! Of course the happened to fall into the BIG holes on the green...

I've probably played 200-300 courses. I've never played one that had a 75 yard Par 3. I'd see if you can get your money back for that one.

Almost every hole on every executive course has holes shorter than 75 yards - if you play from the front or (as I call them) the senior tees.
