Default Can't do things at once

Look there are many examples on YouTube of people walking and talking on their cell phones and having accidents.

They're funny, but behind the wheel of a car it's downright dangerous and texting is even worst.

Some states have made it illegal to be on the phone while driving.

My car has the ability to accept calls and will also read out loud in coming text and even that can sometimes be distracting.

I regularly object to the term accident. Most accidents can be avoided. Thus, most accidents are one or several people acting stupidly.
Wholeheartedly agree.

A meteorite hitting your car is an accident. Your car striking another object, be it a pedestrian, bicyclist, another car, or whatever because your attention was focused somewhere else at the time is NOT.

I was driving south on Buena Vista at around 12:30pm, when a Toyota Tundra truck came up fast on my butt and somehow weaved between me and the car to my left, and floored it. I saw this headline and assumed I would be reading about that idiot. Last I saw it was weaving in and out in heavy traffic, flying up behind cars and slamming on the brakes. It's scary out there, I wouldn't dare ride a bike.

As far as I know, Buena Vista (unlike Morse Blvd) has an available multimode trail available to bicyclists its entire length. I ride almost daily, and can't imagine why anyone would want to risk life and limb by driving on the road there. The speed limit is merely a recommendation, as it isn't enforced with any regularity. No excuse for the idiot driver, but c'mon riders - why put yourself at such a risk?

A bicycle was hit yesterday around 2;30pm on Buena Vista, going north before El Camino drive, on Buena Vista.
It was obvious the driver was not paying attention to driving.
After she hit the bicyclist she turned left sharply and almost rolled her vehicle, hit the curb blew out the front left tire on her SUV and ended up on the medium and almost went into oncoming traffic that was going south.
This guy was lucky not to be killed!!!!!
With technology today you can do this without even looking at your phone. I drove home from Ocala last weekend, had an entire convo via text and didn't look at or touch my phone once. It's all done through a button on my steering wheel and via voice on either Android Auto or Apple Car Play.

The cyclist was very lucky! Drivers do not realize it only takes a second to look at the phone for something ro happen. And being 'older', it takes longer than a second to look at their phones. I had my phone set up before to read the texts to me however I rather turn my phone off while driving.

I don't believe there is such a thing as a BIKE PATH along Buena Vista. There is a MMP that bicyclists are allowed to use but it is not a designated BIKE PATH.

Bicyclists can legally ride on Buena Vista. Like it or not, believe it is a good idea or not, think that you would do it or not, bicyclists can legally ride on Buena Vista. If I was out for anything other than a casual ride I would use the roads to avoid golf carts, turns, and multiple stops. Bicyclists should be able to do this without the fear that an inattentive driver will run into them.

You are absolutely correct you have a legal right to be on the road.
The problem is if some joker in a car puts you in the hospital.
I rather play it safe than being right.

If I am in my car, I have voice to text. All text are spoken thru my radio. It’s been years since I have used thumbs to send a text, even if I am not in my cars. Maybe voice to text is a younger gen thing.

Officers can easily check your phone records if you're in an accident and texting.
