![]() One of the reasons it continues and is growing too is that no one thinks they can be challenged on any rule they break here, and apparently it's true. Cars (and golf carts) parking in front of the stores blocking the crosswalks isn't too cool either. But then if your flashers are on it seems to make it OK. BTW if it is obviously a case of someone being actually confused it certainly deserves our patience and understanding.

When I have experiences like these I operate on the assumption that the people are doing the best they can....... a reasonable belief in a community composed primarily of aging and/or elderly people.
If a person is doing the best he can it is unreasonable of me to expect more. This attitude aids me in my quest for serenity. ![]() |

Are they really that Stupid-or just rude?
That thread line gives me reason to pause and wonder if the OP just had a bad day or is always that judgmental? "He who is without sin cast the first stone". Is there anyone reading this post that hasn't had a bad time of backing out, going in the wrong line unintentionally................................... ................. My pet annoyance is people who abandoned their grocery cart in parking lots. My solution is to return one or two to the cart return stations. By doing that two things occur. First an obstacle that may damage a car is removed. Secondly an otherwise negative feeling is quickly turned into an internal positive. We are all human and we are all sinners.

Maybe these dear people were neither stupid nor rude. Maybe the woman in the parking lot was on her way home after spending hours at the hospital with her sick spouse (the one who always drove) and just couldn't think straight. Maybe the man in the check out line was shell-shocked after having recently lost his bride and making his first foray into a grocery store. Maybe they both have families who desperately want them to move closer so they can help out. Or no family at all. We'll never know.
We all make mistakes (or maybe its just me). But we also need to understand that we live among an aging population who deserve the benefit of the doubt and a little compassion and caring. |

Many people out shopping have to get back to their job because they're on break or lunch time or or are on their way to work, while others have appointments with.... - doctors, - lawyers, - builders - car mechanics - financial planners, - loan officers, - design team consultants, - real estate agents, - estimators coming to estimate a building or other project, - rental agents, - furniture delivery people coming, - a plumber or electrician soon to be at the home, - classes - tee times - show times - team practices - etc. etc. etc. Rules like 12 items maximum at an "Express" cashier line were made for a reason--people with 2 items plus CASH in their hand should not have to wait behind those with half a cart full and no money or plastic ready to go. The problem is not so much the "huge" amount of time wasted, but the people who ignore rules or are even above them. |

That's why I have only set foot in a grocery store twice in 1.5 years. My wife does all the grocery shopping. It's her alone time.

Then you shouldn't be shopping on a lunch hour. Yes it's rude that people ignore grocery store rules and yes they should be enforced, they aren't. Every day people with 18 items will go in the 10 item line. Is it right? No absolutely, but is that really where you want to make a stand? |

OK so now it is your fault because you chose to go shopping on a lunch hour with reasonable expectations, Say What!

Gimme a break. And if the stores are not going to enforce the rule made to expedite people standing in line, then maybe they should get rid of that rule!! |

I heard a story recently from a young lady working at a doctors office. She said that she was in line at the supermarket and a lady behind her asked if she could go in front of her. The young woman said the she was getting ready to tell the lady that of course she could go in front until the woman stated "I AM a Villager and therefore I SHOULD go before you". The young woman told her that until she said that, she was going to let her go but after that remark she can just wait her turn. Steve and I both apologized to her for the rudeness of a 'fellow' Villager. This type of person bothers me a whole lot more than someone with a few too many items. I have found one thing however, since most of us come from larger cities where everything is rushed, it is an adjustment to just slow down and take it easy. Getting out of the supermarket 5 minutes later is not a big deal...just pick up a magazine and, while waiting, you can find out everything that is happening with the Kardashians or the Royal Baby for free!

There are 100,000+ people living here. Do a quick count of how many post here on a regular basis. Of that group then count which ones are consistently negative. My guess is that you will find it is less than .02% of the total population. That is because the other 99.98% are out having the time of their life and not complaining.
