I don't look for or create confortation, but I will confront it. I don't sit and stew and post on the Internet. This is a retirement village, there could be a million reason for parking or lines. 30 years ago you had no patience for people,30 years later people have no patience for you, and you have no patience for others older than you. One day you will be there and want the patience that you wouldn't give.

Yes youth should be taught courteousy, something it seems was missed no matter what age.

I thought 10 items or less was to avoid over-stressing the slowest cashier.

Then, as I was checking out at the 10 items or fewer lane with 2 items, I got behind a man with more than 20 items in his cart. Of course he also was not ready with his credit card and then had to ask the clerk how to get cash back. He either was clueless, or just ignored the icy stares of those of us waiting behind him.

Just had to vent - people seem to be getting stupider and ruder by the day!
Well now I would like to vent- Patience, Patience, Patience is what you need to practice!! You may need to go back to your state and teach band! Why did you have to indicate your former profession? Does not mean that you are more special than your neighbors. We are all here to enjoy life after retirement and that means if you live in the villages, everyone is not going to be rushing as in their former life or they may be a little older than you and cannot move as fast to please the person behind them. Glad you are not one of my close neighbors but hopefully when you get older, someone does not give you that "icey" look!!

There are 100,000+ people living here. Do a quick count of how many post here on a regular basis. Of that group then count which ones are consistently negative. My guess is that you will find it is less than .02% of the total population.

That is because the other 99.98% are out having the time of their life and not complaining.
Thank you and I did consider that and realize it's a tiny tiny fraction of people. But they're so hateful. I know its a tiny number, I do, but I don't want to live around it. I don't now and I don't want to move into it.

The most impatient intolerant person I ever met was my son's band instructor. He was viciously nasty but of course couldn't be fired and thought he was better than everyone.

A job doesn't define the type of person that you are.

Another point to consider is that the "nasty" posts come from anonymous individuals. Most of these negative types are afraid of direct face to face confrontation.

Wow! I can't believe some people get so upset over such unimportant things. How do you propose the store ENFROCE the line rules. Assign a line monitor? Maybe we could set up something like the Seinfeld Soup Natzi episode and the line monitor could yell, "no food for you", as he pulls offenders out of the line.

Sometimes venting on the internet is the best thing someone can do. Certainly beats being mean or rude to someone in person. And it is just that -- venting. Doesn't mean the ventee isn't a charming, kind person, it just means an outlet was needed and, in this case, TOTV was it. Mind you, the OP didn't say anything rude, just complained about the woman trying to maneuver into the parking spot she was so anxious to get that she couldn't drive around to it and the man who brought too many things to the express line. The worst thing said was the title.

I'm usually a pretty nice person and reasonably patient. But I'll have my own personal bad day and vent about some dolt who did something stupid in my eyes. Hopefully, I won't vent to that person but maybe to a friend or even here.

And I don't care where you live, there are going to be people who are naturally negative and there are people who will be having a bad day and seem negative. It is your choice how you deal with these folks. Or, I guess you could always stay home, order everything via the internet and never have to deal with any negativity.

I can beat that. Less than 45 minutes ago I witnessed what I assume was road rage by Mulberry Grove. I have no idea what happened prior to my arrival but here is what I saw. One idiot stood in front of a car to keep it from leaving and the second idiot tried to run over the first idiot. No exageration, he was using the car as a weapon...no bluffing...just anger fueled agression. First idiot had to dive out of the way while second idiot turned onto Hwy 42 in front of me. I was going the same way, so I called 911 and reported what I saw to include license number of idiot #2. We both turned onto 441 Southbound and as I turned into the strip mall that was my destination, idiot #1 flew by in hot pursuit of idiot #2. I really wanted to see it play out, but my wife wanted some fresh bread even more so we stopped at the new bakery and I was deprived of any further entertainment.

Smile Bad Day

So he/she had a bad day. I ran into someone today who has a husband with heart failure and a limited time on this earth, another had cancer and is undergoing chemo and suffering from the effects of chemo, another explained they had had a patient who was HIV positive, a drug addict, a victim of abuse by her farther and a minority, I could go on but this gives some idea of what I am saying. These poor human being have real problems and I am sure would trade for a little discomfort in a parking lot without any questions. Are you ready to trade. I thought not. Now keep problems in perspective and thank god you are not one of these or one of the other individuals struggling with devastating illnesses. It is sad some believe a simple discomfort is worth even mentioning when so many are suffering so badly. Let's all give thanks for such a wonderful life and The Villages.

Seems like a very reasonable attitude.

As redwitch so aptly said, it's probably better to vent frustrations to nobody in particular on internet.

At one point in my life I had to learn that I was powerless over people, what they say or do, but not powerless over my attitude towards people and it has been a lifesaver. I can choose to be upset or choose sing Kumbaya and hold hands with other positive people and overlook the negative. It brings me peace of mind. The only exception is my inability to overlook cruelty to children or animals and my husband's driving.

OK guys we shouldn't jump on someone for being annoyed they have a right, I mean the op didn't pull out a gun and shoot the tires just vented on a site with friends - Yes there are worse problems in the world. However as Maya Angelo says it's like being picked to death by ducks. All the little stuff that people do and say that is annoying or inconsiderate to others makes life a little less pleasant and is not needed. - I have started saying something instead of staying quiet- If no one ever says anything people who are clueless just keep pushing everyone else out of their way, how are people going to learn if no one says anything. Obviously their parents didn't teach them or where they were from it was done different.
