As long as the place is selling out, ticket prices will remain higher. There are enough high income people living in the villages to spend $200.00 for a couple tickets and even at that price a person of moderate means will do it once in a while for a event he really wants to see. I love old rock and roll bands and paid $40.00 a ticket for turtles, grass roots, association, buckinghams , cousils, and mark Lindsay of paul revere and the raiders. Concert is june 20th at ruth eckardt hall in Clearwater. Just happens to be our 46th wedding anniversary that day.

The Turtles might be around for 140 years.

And I was thinking yesterday that these are the prices they probably charge for a private event like a wedding or bar mitzvah. There are people with enough discretionary income so money is no object. I'll bet the agents set up a tour knowing that the auditorium owners work with each other to guarantee the best return for the house, the artist and the agent. A five thousand seat auditorium probably cost 5,000 times as much as was spent redoing the Church on the Square. I don't know. big money, big risk |

These groups are some of my favorite groups.
I saw most in concert before and I wish we could get that type of entertainment for that price here! Last edited by Buckeye; 05-18-2015 at 10:44 AM. |

My first concert of any significance was Vanilla Fudge in 1968, right after they appeared on the Ed Sullivan show. After the Beatles my favorite band back then was Grand Funk. I finally got to see them in 1998, the last time the original members toured together, Mark, Don & Mel. I also got to see 3 Dog Night the last time the 3 original members toured together in 1984, Chuck Negron, Cory Wells & Danny Hutton. I had a record collection of 4,000 albums before I moved to TV four years ago. They're gone now but I still have about 500 CD's, 300 concerts on DVD and XM/Sirius Radio in my car. I guess I'm a music junky. |

I listen to 99.6 quite a bit. They play older songs of a certain classic style. The Sharon is heavily advertised on that station and I wouldn't be a bit surprised if sooner or later the percentage of the audiences not living in The Villages will outnumber the locals.
Maybe some day they could charge a much higher price for a ticket for outsiders to somewhat subsidize the locals. Of course you would need to put caps in place for it to even out. |

Went to the show tonight at the Sharon and it was worth every penny! I would love to see it a second time! There were 2 standing ovations and 3 encores. The seats were comfortable and a great view of the stage and we were in the last row. We could see everything just fine. I like the size of the place, just perfect.

Seats were indeed comfortable and there was leg room, too. Really enjoyed the show and will see it again when it returns...I'm sure it will... ![]() |
