You pretty much summed it up DONH57!

You know I'm not knocking the the person who let 1 or 2 carts cross the rd. out of 10. I'm applauding the person in the car. I agree again with you comment DONH57, we're retired & I can't believe anybody is in that big of a hurry to get home & flop on the couch or left their house late to get to their tee time. Yes, we're suppose to be in a better position than that!

Why is the typical response "what's your rush?". Why is it your business? Just follow the damn law (especially if you are in the passing lane and folks are passing you in the right lane, you are illegally impeding traffic). No one appointed you guys as traffic monitors.

Gotta say I largely agree with this. I don't always get irritated at a simple (misguided) attempt at courtesy. But when I do, it has nothing to do with being in a rush. I just find myself wondering if the do-gooder thinks themselves better than everybody else, is simply totally ignorant of the law and right-of-way issues, or is using some other equally false rationale for their actions.

Oh. I'm not a traffic monitor. I'm just an traffic observer. I just observe how others handle their driving tempers and react with a huge smile and wave.

Understandable of course...since few others have the same perspective you do, with your view being from so far above everybody else's.

Joldnol makes a good point - just follow the law!

yes that area of The Villages is very poorly designed for autos, golf carts and pedestrians!

I think the post you are quoting was meant as a gotcha.

And of course you are the difinitive expert on what is misguided or not.....my belief is that those that continue to take their opinion of right of way or the law or condem do gooders are the ones that think themselves better than everybody else and use their belief as a rationale for their actions. Using "the law" to support their positons is ok if you obey every other law on the books, turn signals and stop signs come to mind, otherwise you are no different than others that pick and choose what laws suit them.

One is not a "do gooder" if they are illegally impeding traffic. The do gooder needs a ticket.

Forget which laws or right of way. Waving carts across creates a dangerous situation then and in the future. There are cart operators who think those crossing lanes give them the same rights as pedestrians and assume cars will yield to them. They saw it happen at the gates other times, so it must be true. It also creates confusion when the cart driver sees a car stop. Is it safe to go or not. Then both start to move, then both stop. You go. No, you go. Then the time when a cart is waved across only to have to stop for the car going the other way. I don't know about you, but I'd rather wait on the MMP, than halfway across the intersection.
About the only time I can see waving a cart across is when the traffic exiting the gate is so backed up that nothing is moving and allowing a cart to cross makes sense. But stopping a line of traffic that is moving is not a good or courteous thing to do.
