The best thing about it is you can put 20 in the back of your vehicle and when your out that way, day or night, weekday or Sunday, you can’t put them in the drop box. Will take some time to get rid of 200, but a little at a time and you’ll be done.
The drop slots outside the library are for returning borrowed books and media. I don't think the library wants you to put donations in those slots. Did you ask them about that?

DH and I are starting to clear the house in preparation of his retirement in two years and moving to TV. We gave away 1000+ books in December. Our local library is picky about what it accepts, and that many was too much for them to handle. I practice law in multiple counties. I took a trunkful to different counties and gave them to Salvation Army or Goodwill over a week or so. All were grateful.

Please donate books (max 2 boxes at a time) to Friends of the Villages Library at either Pinnellas Plaza or Lady Lake. We sell fiction and non-fiction donated books and have raised over $500,000 for literacy programs in the area since inception. Usually open Mon-Friday 10-4 pm. Thank you.

Do any of the rec centers have a library? I sure would love to be able to pick up a book and drop off a book every now and then. When I taught, my class did a special project where they built a "Little Free Library". People donated books for it and then people could get one to read, return it or keep it and get another. Focused on grade school aged children but I have seen them for older children and adults.

I don't think the rec centers have libraries. But, if you need a jigsaw puzzle, they have them at the Silver Lake rec center.

Happy Anniversary. You have been on TOV for one year. In that time you have created 4003 posts which I suspect is a new record.

I used to donate my books to the schools. Any books they couldn’t use they put in the faculty room for the teachers

The Santiago Womens Club has a book sale every year. The monies made go to local charities. It’s always been held in March but because of COVID they couldn’t have it. The next one is scheduled for August.

Actually, the Sumter County library at Pinellas doesn't accept donated books, but, the Friends of the Library located inside of the library does. The library opens at 9 AM, but the Friends of the Library opens at 10 and closes around 2 PM. I was there a few months ago when a guy had to haul several boxes of books back to his car because the library wouldn't accept them because the Friends of the Library was not open. Also, the library does not want you to put donations into the outside drop box. That box is only for returning borrowed material.
