Default Any word on Southern Oaks Bridge?

We just bought a home in St. Catherine’s and will be moving to the villages soon. I see the Southern Oaks bridge on the map that states it’s in the ‘Approval Process’. Looks like it will offer great access to the other southern villages. Any word on when this bridge could open?

They are calling it the Bexley Bridge. Goldwing Nut probably has a video up including any progress on it. There is an existing bridge there and nobody knows what they are going to do with it.

Everything I read is it is still in the approval process. It will be nice when it is completed as it will be a great location to get across the turnpike and not having to go up to Water Lily and back down from either side.

The problem is that the "other southern villages" do not exist yet. There is no place for the road to go unless you want to cross the turnpike to end up in a cow pasture.

They have been waiting for approval for a long time, and this being a bridge for motor vehicles also, I'm guessing late 2022 or into 2023.

We purchased a home in Hillsboro two years ago. At the time we were shown homes in the newest development Fenny. We were told the bridge connecting that village to The rest of the Villages would be completed in 6 months. IT TOOK TWO YEARS.

There is a lot of work going on south of Monarch Grove on some type of road heading in the direction of the new bridge from Marsh Bend. They were actually laying some asphalt down which surprised me. The area between Marsh Bend and the turnpike all the way down to 470 will be a lot of recreation including 2 championship courses, the research hospital, and other amenities. After living here two years one thing I can tell you is this developer can move really fast when they want.

Maybe it is "Road 1" in this plan?

Two years ago the newest development would have been Linden or Monarch Grove, Fenney was completely built prior to that.

Default Sales Agents of The Villages are not Realtors

The licensed Sales Agents who work for Properties of The Villages are NOT Realtors. Realtors are members of the Board of Realty and subscribe to their code of ethics. They work with companies like ReMax and Firefox and put the interests of their clients first. Sales Agents of Properties of The Villages work for the Developer.

Very true and the developer will always tell them what to say.

Often they seem to know less than the more knowledgeable people on here.

Please advise where it is written (Not Heresay) that there are plans for TWO Championship courses?

The existing bridge is a cattle crossing not a vehicle crossing. Based on past bridge experience the Sawgrass bridge will be open late 2022 in time for snowbird season. With no development below the turnpike there is no reason to have a bridge in the near future.
