Default TOTV did help seal my deal

TOTV did help seal my deal, and I never met a TOTV'er in person(except katezbox in our pre-TV lives).

During our decision process, I tried asking anyone I could, from The Villages, in as many ways as possible, "If they were happy with their decision?"

Reviewing posts on TOTV over several months, provided the same basic answer as the overwhelming majority of the people I asked, that "They would never leave!"

It helped assure me that a move to The Villages was correct for us.

Default Warm fuzzies

I agree TOTV has helped seal the deal for us. We have visited but you don't get the reality check just from a visit. Then to hear all of you open and honest and for the most part so happy with your decision even after time has gone bye ....well that says a lot. Also am impressed with how friendly and helpful most are (except in political)Warm fuzzies yep Warm fuzzies
BTW as most of you know we have to wait until we can be frogs so keep posting...I've learned so much

We are wannabees and have been for quite a few years now. After the downfall of the real estate market we have come down substantially on our price. It ( our price) has been steadily falling for over 2 years now. We are just about at the bottom now and if things don't happen soon, I'm afraid we will remain wannabees until the market picks up.
That being said...I have been taking flak from everyone I know who has no clue about The Villages. How it is a Stepford Wives place, it is a "cult", etc. etc. They laugh at the idea of golf carts being used for transportation, that "old people" live there, and that it is a Disney for adults. I get razzed every day by co-workers and clients. They have no idea what an idyllic place it truly is. I now have 3 friends who have moved there and they are patiently waiting for me and my husband to join them. I cannot wait to get there. Yes... I will miss my daughter, her husband and her kids but I remind them.. it's only an hour and a half from Disney!!!

We heard about TV from two couples - one that live there and one that visited there. We were curious enough to Google The Villages and found TOTV. Honestly, if it weren't for TOTV, we probably would not have schedule a Livestyles Visit. We did so and now we're sold on TV. We can't wait until 2012.

Pushing Fast Forward... again and again and again!

We were in TV in October of 2007 for the first and only time. We knew going in that we were not ready to make a decision about a second home. We plan to return soon to fine-tune things.

It was at the time of that 2007 visit that I found TOTV. And I am grateful to TOTV and its members who share such good information. This site is highly valuable to anyone considering TV. TOTV takes potential buyers beyond the sales office. TOTV provides wonderful information. I am glad I found this place.

But now I have to make a shameless confession.....

Sometimes I can be a total dingbat about something that is staring me right in the face. I can miss the obvious, all too often -- about some things anyway.

I have always thought the name of this site "Talk of the Villages" to be clever and actually quite perfect. Here we are talking of The Villages and talking about lots of other stuff too, things that might be the talk of the villages from time to time. So I thought it was such a lovely play on words. Villagers and potential Villagers all just talking away.

And then one day, not so very long ago, I had one of those "AHA!" moments followed by a great big "DUH" moment. I finally noticed, after more than a year and a half of hanging around this place, that TOTV is actually "To TV." So no wonder it works for people trying to decide. Geez. I am such a dingbat sometimes. How in the heck did I miss that for all that time.

We stumbled upon The Villages on our way home from a vacation in Orlando. There was a traffic jam on the freeway, so we decided to go up 27 and take a leisurely way up to I75. We saw the bridge going over 27 and thought "what the heck is this place?" So we turned in, and were so taken in by the beauty of the town square that we got out and started wandering around. We ended up in the sales office and took the bus tour of the place. We ended up leaving a few hours later with info in hand and much to talk about on our drive back to Detroit. I found TOTV on an internet search that I did looking for more info about The Villages. The great friends that I made on this forum definitely made us feel more comfortable when we came back for a visit, and I would say helped us to solidify our decision to move here on a permanent basis.

TOTV definitely influenced my decision to purchase in TV. I like to gather a lot of information to make an informed decision (espeically when I'm talking about a big purchase like a house) and TOTV helped me to do that.

Talking TOTV Influences

Well, I bought before I knew about TOTV and like many of the people, I thought "What did I just do?". But, after reading TOTV, I was more than convinced that we made the right decision. We are coming down at the end of October for a "Girl's Week" with 3 of our friends and then we are planning on retiring the end of January. Look forward to meeting all of the wonderful people who belong to this site. JanetandCarol
