LONG before The Villages came to fruition it was well known of a little town in Central Florida called Lady Lake that had the MOST aggressive speed trap in the state.(every trucker knew of this!))(before the turnpike came long) This is why they have nice muscle cars! Charger, Camaro, Mustang etc..my analogy is such as this. The US carrier Indianapolis is The Villages.. the survivors in the water are The Villagers ..and the sharks are the aggressive Lady Lake PD speed traps. I have addressed this in another post.. I sit at highway 25 by the Vet office Blatantly eating donuts! and watch the speeders come down the hill in a 35 mph ( remember gravity doesn't discriminate for anyone or anything) and every day BAMN! the blue light special turns on!! I so do wish to start a viral video of this aggressive milking taxation of those who are known to be the top 5% mentality! ( call it what it is!)..Blatant aggressive driving I understand!! nail them!! but radar speed traps in 5 areas-- Rolling Acres road , Bichara Blvd, Highway 25 by the Racetrack, and coming in from the south the moment you hit Lady Lake ,, speed trap by Oakwood etc every day. gets to be a bit much for it seems to be all they have to do..obtain revenue thru speed traps--- Remember! just don't ask the officer if he is Kevin Thompson as you spit donut crumbs at the PO PO .. big mistake , you will find yourself with more that a ticket! get beat down and dragged off to jail!!!! for those of you that wish to know if I did this I plead the fifth!! the punishment does not fit the crime IMO one mile over and you are ticketed HERE!! been that way for decades, but they don't tell you that do they when you come here.

Good explanation.
. many entry points, and don't forget the shady Oaks that darken that part of the road Bichara Blvd . then how come No red lights to allow safer entrance in and out of those many entry points? wouldn't that help? many MVA"s are there! golf carts and cars and dark streets and multiple entry points... yet no traffic lights installed for safety (yet). is it more important to have speed traps than traffic lights? or even speed bumps so we can spill our coffee!! its all about the Revenue thru tickets!! Argh!! crash thump...Martha call 911!! I'm ok I.m ok!!

I remember in the not too distant past that people did not act disrespectful of Law Enforcement Officers. Now folks think they are cute doing it. Pig socks???

Most people who are beat down and dragged off to jail did something that damn sure should not have done.

MOST people who live here are law abiding and law respecting and I am not going to sit here quietly especially since I have NOT had my coffee yet this morning and not say something about this very disrespectful post.

There are bad apples in law enforcement, granted, but recently it is "cute" to say nasty things about police officers and that makes me furious.

Default speeding tickets

Be very aware of the 20 MPH on 466 during school hours with lights flashing. I was stopped for doing 27 and was slowing , fortunatly for me I only received a friendly warning. The police are watching!!

Cool In NY

In NY most police go by "eight you skate, nine your mine". so don't go over 8 MPH of the speed limits.

I would be curious as to;

1. Where you heard this.
2. Whether it is just some LEO's personal opinion.
3. Any documentation that NY police, even most of them, think or apply the same.

And is that for ANY posted speed, or just the interstates/freeways/toll roads...or say speeds above +-60 mph?

To sum up this entire thread, the OP felt that a ticket for going "only 6 mph" over a very low posted speed limit...was somehow unfair.

By most of the responses, I don't think the hoped for empathy emerged.

85% of all people speed (true statistic) Getting a ticket is part of driving. You take your chance, if you get a ticket you chalk it up as part of driving

At least you were able to read and comprehend that post without getting a headache. I gave up after 4 "sentences" (and I use that term loosely.).

I assumed it was some form of lorem ipsum.

That's a cutesy little rhyme that has absolutely no relation to reality.
