Default House Break in Village of Gilcrest unit 210

Just a heads up FOLKS!!!!!
There was a house break in on Albara Place Week of the Dec 1st -8th.
Folks be care who you tell that your away or if you bring your pets to a kennel don't tell them when you are going to be away, make up some other story that you are having your carpet changed and rooms painted.
Also if you are going to make your neighbors aware that you are going to be away, be sure you tell your neighbors not to tell people soliciting to your home or contractors that you are away.
Sometimes you can have a person dressed as a contractor with a phony business card casing the address to see if someone is home.
Unfortunately it happened to me in the north.
When you use Contractors in the south they are to be licensed fingerprinted and a background check to be sure they are of good character. However that does not mean they are of good character it could mean they have not been caught yet stealing from homes. I have gone through the painful effort of getting licensed in Florida and if you are going to get licensed, you probably would be of good moral character.
But remember the people they employee may not be, so look for suspicious actions when you have them in your home.
I had my carpet repaired in one bedroom and i walked away to see how these individual would act but kept them in my view.
Sure enough one of the people walked two bedrooms down snooping, when i asked what he was doing he became startled and said, OH I am only looking.
I asked him to go outside and wait for his Boss, his supervisor on the job said he was new and would keep an Eye on him.
Well i hate to be Judgmental on appearance, but majority of his teeth where missing and not well groomed.
Look for the signs people they are there. However there are a lot of break in's that happen in the villages that we don't hear about.
We are in a relatively safe area but criminals don't stay in the Ghetto to rob people, they have stolen everything from each other and end up in the nice areas robbing hard working individuals.
Your best security is an alarm system and good Neighbors.
I also applaud the elderly woman that carry protection in their purses, more of that would keep these dirty bags out of our community when they know the consequences of their acts.
Please give your neighbors a heads up to remind them how quick they could become a victim.

That's a lot of info.
What can you tell us about the break in? Residents home? How did this occur? Daytime, nighttime?

Apparently it was the Front door and they broke the deadbolt somehow and stole some Jewelry, that is all i can tell you. They have some fingerprints and DNA i was told.
But i don't have any of the other details.
I do know they took their dogs to a kennel and also had someone solite to there home when they were away and i believe a neighbor told them they were out of town. i don't really know anything else

Exclamation Be aware

Was home when neighbor's lawn guys came.

Gentleman using leaf blower walked thru my yard. Came to lanai windows
and looked in. He did not see me.

Went outside and asked why he walked thru yard. He became very defensive.

Also was using leaf blower and walked down two or three houses looking
around.

Forewarned is Forearmed.

No matter where one lives, the holidays can be potentially more "dangerous" for break-ins. I've heard where thieves break in on Christmas Eve when folks go to church.

If people go north, they should have lights on timers, neighbors being watchful as well as putting a hold on newspapers etc. One thing we don't have to worry about is snow that doesn't need shoveling (think feet and tire tracks on drive-ways and sidewalks if not shoveled).

In a community of our size it's not unusual for robberies.

I saw the same thing so followed him for 2 streets. I asked the Lawn crew on the next street over and they said he was with them. They asked why I asked and I told them it was odd to have a guy blowing the streets and going through yards.

So, the profile is people without all their teeth. (you have to be kidding, right?)

"Criminals not staying in the Ghetto", this means blacks, right? Of all the robberies in the last three years in TV.........how many were comitted by someone from the Ghetto?

"However there are a lot of break in's that happen in the villages that we don't hear about." I would have agreed with this statement a couple years ago.................today very little if anything gets past the- other site.

I don't think he was giving a profile literally or that he meant black people all live in the ghetto (poor white, yellow and tan do also). I applaude him for attempting in his own way to warn us as he had concern. If we overly pick on the messenger, many will decide not to post anything at all. This forum is for good-natured sharing...at least I think it is.

As usual on here...off track to bash the OP. The poor OP was just alerting us to a potential threat to our homes. Yes, the police came to my home also in reference to the above. They feel quite certain they are hot on the burglars trail, but were still snooping around, especially since I had apparently just had some work done outside. They advised me that of late, there appears to just be "quick" break-ins. No messes, no big items taken...straight to the jewelry boxes and coin jars. His advice, ladies, and gentlemen , was to keep only your costume jewelry in your jewelry boxes if they are visible, and keep your good stuff hidden elsewhere. They don't appear to be going thru anything, just whats obvious. I know a lot of us ladies have those standing jewelry cabinets...he said take your good and sentimental stuff out and hide it. Also, yes...be careful who you tell you are leaving the home. Their entry was the front door...kicked in.
