I apologized to her profusely for the sign, but she smiled at me with pride in her eye. I think even good dogs can go bad when someone violates their owner. Probably not so the trash pickers, but she'd give them a scare.

Read your quote:
If the property is the unenclosed curtilage of a dwelling and the offender enters or remains with the intent to commit an offense thereon, other than the offense of trespass, commits the offense of trespass on property other than a structure or conveyance. It is only trespass if they enter the unenclosed curtilage with INTENT TO COMMIT AN OFFENSE. Good luck proving intent. Taking someone's refuse is not an offense, as has been established in this thread as well as many others. |

Well, even I once grabbed a great old wooden chair that someone on my street had put out with other trash, etc. (It just had some paint splatters that I removed) But I cannot imagine it is okay to open garbage, take what you want and leave the rest all over the ground. That is littering and a nuisance.

Tried that once at 6:30 and the trash had already been picked up on the street, when I called they said it was fair game anytime after 6.

And we've noticed that after the snowbird season, the trash and recycle pickups become earlier and earlier in the morning, because they don't have as many houses to stop at. So in those months we put it out the night before.

They stole my trash a few weeks ago, but I did not mind. They paid my bills and prepaid a subscription to Golf Magazine.

I didn't mention it before, but I do believe that particular bag had a big old bag of doggie poop in it. Surprise!!! I hope they enjoyed it.
This was not the recycle day either. It was the regular trash pick up day.

Admittedly, not likely ...
In my community the City does trash pickup. There is random checking of trash. A City employee will pick a bag or two from the pile. (Approx. 10 condos place their trash in each pile in our area.) The employee will take the bag(s) back to the public service department. The City will go through bags and IF they find recyclable materials (cans, bottles, plastic, newspapers) in the trash bag, they MAY give the homeowner a fine. Of course, that can only happen if the owner left something identifiable as to their home's specific address, since there are the piles from multiple dwellings. Perhaps this random checking is happening in TV? You could be blamed (fined?) if there were recyclables in a bag that was picked up from your driveway? Another remote possibility is an artist taking trash, for an art project? (I've seen articles written of artists who do this kind of work.)

It happened to us and I called community watch services and was told that once you put something on the curb it is public property and they can't do anything about it.
I know longer put my garbage out at night we put it out during the day of the trash pick up. It's really pathetic that this is happening in The Villages and community watch things it's all OK. |

Getdul has told us what happened and another person said the same thing happened to them,so now we know NOT to let anything go into the trash unshredded. Shredders are very cheap. Many thanks again Greg for this very useful information.
