I have MY hypothesis about why more trash is found on TV Land's streets than 10 or 15 years ago. TV residents of 15 years ago were mostly military enlisted men and wives and people with retirements brought about by UNIONS. They were UNION workers that were committed to the concept of WORKING. Both groups took PRIDE in doing things themselves and with their OWN hands. Most were NOT white-collar managers. So, they cut their OWN grass and hedges and planted and fertilized their own yards. That gave them pride and SATISFACTION. They had purchased their houses at VERY reasonable prices and were FRUGAL with their retirement money.

Today they have died and gone to the BIG Village in the sky. The newer residents pay more for their homes and are more likely to be management types, professionals, or office workers. White-collar types that dislike getting dirty and calloused hands. Unions are GONE for the most part. So, these management types are willing to pay to have ALL the WORK in the yard and house done by younger local workers that often do NOT take pride in their work. They are more interested in drinking after work than they are in clean streets in some RICHY, RICH people's neighborhoods. They DON'T live here so, can you blame them. They cut your grass and leave behind an endless supply of cigarette butts there - and water bottles in YOUR streets. On average, they come from poor, pathetic, trash-filled neighborhoods and you ENCOURAGE them to invade YOUR neighborhoods - what do YOU expect?

Then at night, they know who has left for the summer or weekend and they come back with their friends and break into YOUR homes and get some items to pawn and supplement their low incomes. There are even more things to worry about than trash, trash, trash!

I am glad that you are talking about over-population and being or becoming a 3rd world country. I have been accused of over-reacting when talking about excess population. We talk about an infrastructure problem, but there would be zero problem if the US had only 275 million people. People talk about the good old days - well those days were good because the US had 200 million people and the middle class had NOT YET DIED! The rich had not yet fully taken over as they have today in our current 3rd world country.

Ask yourself - will things get better or worse in 40 years when A.I. and Robotics create a US unemployment of as much as 30 %???????

Drivers intentionally running over turtles is SICK and SADISTIC! It is the kind of thing that a 14-year-old would do - not an adult! It is just a small step away from intentionally killing someone's pet puppy or cat and should carry just as strong of a civil penalty.

You'd need an entire crew to go through there every single day to check the trash. It's just not very practical or cost-efficient.

Better if you just carry your own trash with you, and toss it when you see a bin to toss it in.

Especially when you know it doesn't belong there, and think you're being clever by having two bags - one with dog poop, one empty, and pretending to throw away the empty one but actually throwing away the full one. I STILL pick up all trash when I’m walking. I carry hand sanitizer and a plastic bag. We’ll never stop the lazy people. We are living in a ‘me’ generation - so - we can all work together to pick up after them. Sorry to say this, but what other solution is there ?
