Default Best route to/from 95

Hey everybody: Getting ready for the drive from Virginia. Just checking to see if this is still the best route;

95 to Ormond Beach > 40 >19 > 42

Thanks, Chris

Some will argue I-10 to I-75 Lake City, then I-75 south, that way you'll avoid the speed traps at Starke, Waldo and Citra and others, but you'll add 60 miles to your trip. I was born in Baltimore and raised in the Tampa area, plus lived in Savannah for ten years and now TV for almost 5 years, I've driven this route at least 100 times.

Using Google Maps, from I-95 Jacksonville Airport exit to TV is 168 miles and 2 hrs and 54 minutes. From Georgia continue south on I-95 when approaching Jacksonville look for I-295 bypass. Takes I-295 bypass to I-10 West, take I-10 west until US 301 and exit US 301 south. US 301 south is a 4 lane divided hwy. When approaching Ocala look for CR 326 (should have an I-75 sign), take 326 west until I-75. Take I-75 south until SR 44 east Wildwood exit. Take 44 until you reach TV.

Stay away from 301 unless your car does't go faster than 30mph.

The route 301 speed traps are no more, although I still slow down going through Waldo from habit I think.

This route you mentioned is the quickest way from I 95 to The Villages. Taking 295 around Jacksonville to 10 west to 301 south is about the same amount of time but you don't have the towns to deal with.

I always do 95 to St Aug, Palatka, Salt Springs, Oklawaha. Weirsdale through the ONF. Little traffic and better scenery.

On 301 you have to change speed up or down nearly every 2 or 3 miles and you have to be on constant lookout for a new speed limit. Very stressful knowing the history of speed traps on 301.

I like to take 95 to 40 to 35 to 441/27. Put the cruise on and steer.

25 N to 464C (right in oclawaha) to 314A N(left) to 314 (right to Salt Springs) to 19 (left takes you to palaka) to US17 N (Green Cove Springs) to 16 W to 13 N to 210 E to I 95 N to 295 E, connect with 95 North of Jax. This is the shortest route mileage wise, they all take approximately the same time (ie 301 to 10, 40 to 95, etc). Beautiful drive thru the forrest (you may even see a bear)

Default Type of roads

I take the 301 75 route can you tell me the type of roads 40, 19 & 42 are? I hate single lane roads, I always get behind the school bus or the one slow driver.

I prefer 301, continue under 10 on 301, 301/200 to exit 373 on 95. Reverse it coming South. This cuts diagonally over to 95 and eliminates 10 and 295 which I dislike and is shorter but not faster. 301 speed traps: driven it many times. Use your cruise control and GPS for MPH. Drive exactly the speed limit. When you hit a 10 mph speed reduction warning sign, take it off cruise, it will coast down the 10 mph almost exactly by the time you hit the lower speed limit sign, reset the cruise control and do it all again at the next speed reduction warning. Stay on your toes. Ever wonder why there are speed limits when nobody wants to drive the limit?
