Default Tried the Havana again

I heard on the golf course that Havana has a good breakfast buffet. Just got back home and got to say. Not a chance of more than not good at all.

I love the decor, love the staff, but I could cook better food on a coleman cookstove. I won't give up, since it is a perfect location for us to go out for any meal.

They are trying. We go to breakfast almost every day. Sometimes the buffet looks better than others, so I would say it depends on the cook. I know they have had some problems there.

They have a new Breakfast Manager and she is aware of the negative comments about Havana on TOTV and has brought it to the attention of the management.

Don't give up on them.

It doesn't take an extremely skilled cook to produce a good breakfast.

Someone needs to buy a cookbook and read it.

It hurts me to see these negative comments when it appears to be such an easy fix.

Breakfast buffets are tough. Everything needs to be just the right temperature so it does not dry out or get too crispy or too rubbery. The best breakfast buffet I have found in TV is Katie Belles. But I will admit I have not been there in a while.

We don't do breakfast all that often but we decided to try Havana when we had guests several months ago. We were very disappointed and haven't been back since. There are too many great places to eat here to give a bad place a second chance. We recently discovered the excellent buffet at Katie Belles (only $4.99 on Fridays and Saturdays) and also enjoy breakfast (non-buffet) at The Veranda.

I actually like the breakfast buffet at The Waterfront Inn. Lots of choices, eggs cooked to order, and not to bad a price for a hotel. I tried Havana buffet. First time was not bad, second time, got there at 7:00 and nothing really out there until 7:20. The hostess comped the meal, but it still didn't make me want to go back. Might give it another try sometime later after they got the kinks out.

Default Hacienda Hills anyone?

When we were in TV a couple weeks ago, we had the Sunday breakfast buffet at Hacienda Hills after an early round of golf. Everything we had from the buffet was fresh and delicious! I would definitely go back.

I just posted yesterday that I wouldn't give Havana a second chance. However, we were doing the twilight golf at Havana yesterday and noticed that they had a weekday breakfast buffet for only $5.95 plus they gave me a coupon for 10% off. I went inside to ask the hostess what the hours were for the buffet. She told me that they serve until 11:00. So this morning, we decided to give it a shot. We arrived at about 10:15 and didn't see a buffet line. We asked the waitress and she told us that the buffet closed at 10:00. I explained that the hostess the previous evening had told us that the buffet line remained open until 11:00. Our waitress stated (rather brusquely) "well you were told wrong". We left.

While I'm certainly NOT inviting y'all to my favorite breakfast site, you must know that I serve the best breakfast of all!

Default Havana.

Havana has had problems from the day it opened, if not sooner. They have not been able to get their act together insofar as food and service is concerned whether it be B L D. It seems that it can only serve drinks and provide entertainment. If it is to be another "gin mill" in the Villages than so be it. So far as it goes I have so many more choices in and around the Villages to patronize where the food is tasty and edible and the serve staff properly trained. Adios Havana!!!!!

Default restaraunt managment

As a former restaraunt owner , Village visitor and perspective buyer I can say that golf...restaraunts and people friendly are very important to my wife and I...I am here in TV now and I have been to Havana and I will tell you that they have problems that management needs to take care of imediatlely or they will loose...Most people will give you 2 chances with a new establisment, after that you loose them without significant investment...

GOOD LUCK HAVANA !

Thanks for the input. My wife and I will continue to check them out as we live only 3 minutes by golf cart and the club has good atmosphere, and I could even live with poor service, however,

1. The breakfast buffet - not good at all

2. Club Sandwich at lunch time - ummm OK not good, but eatable.

3. NY strip for dinner - yuk It was 1/4 inch think. Looked like a pork blade cut of meat. I told the waitress of my feeling and she said she would talk to the manager who never came by. We were only a couple among maybe 8 people in the restaurant. I also told the waitress that the cook made it taste ok with the spices added to the meat. But a NY Strip ordered Med Rare, no spices ordered comes 1/4 inch thick, well done and rubbery. WOW

We plan to go again this week when they have one of their special dinners and order that rather than off the menu. Maybe volume cooking will work for us. I sure hope they get it together soon. We love the location and interior of the club.
