I hope and pray that we will be as fortunate as we were with Irma. Nothing serious damaged. It was our first hurricane here. Hoping all can do what needs to be done to get ready and we all will be counting the same amount of noses come next Wednesday.

On 4 pm broadcast Channel 2 has it as a category 3 after it crosses all that open water before coming ashore. If it crosses the state, they showed it going over Orlando. The right side is the worse and we would be on the right side. However, Hurricane Irma went north parallel to I-75 and we were on the right side and my Directv didn't even go out. I stayed up until 4:30 until the eye had passed us, no damage here.

The real test of one's metal will come if there ever is a call for an evacuation.
The routes out....I-75 and I-95 and most roads to them will be nothing more than disorganized parking lots. Riding one out in a cement block built home may be the safer option than being stuck in a car for hours and maybe for the storm. Let's hope we never have to make that choice. |

Meanwhile Gotta laugh....The Orlando Meteorologist are in absolute Frenzy. Crazy as it seems to think of it every day pretty much the same forecast day in day out. Blah Blah................ Blah
And NOW Wow a Hurricane I get to report an actual happening that I can predict ...........YES OMG ............. Like a Snow Storm ...... OMG YES........... They the channels are all competing with one another to give the Most Accurate Forecast...ahem ... meanwhile, the Channel who Wins will be the one who has the Best " Drama "... Channel 2"s Aimee Sweezy is more into " Adore Me "... Last Place... I'm having a chuckle. Thank You, Channel " 2 " As my previous post, I'm all set..although I did stock up on more cheese and olives today. Problem Is wait for it..... All their information is coming from yes ............................. The Weather Channel Satellite So much for the " The Most Accurate " Last edited by 600th Photo Sq; 08-28-2019 at 08:00 PM. |

Do the Villages offices remain operational during a storm or is it like a snow day up north?
My design meeting is Monday so I moved my flight to Saturday to be there before it hits. But watching closely. |

I guess you're experiencing a lot of anxiety as you started another thread on this very subject! How long have you lived here? A friend wants to know......

Having grown up near the NC coast I've been through a number of hurricanes.
The worst part for me is always the boredom and the monotony of constant rain. So I'm topping off my Kindle ereader and all my electronic devices. I've also got an emergency charger in case the power goes out. And I've got a full set of rain gear from when I used to ride Harleys so I can walk to Sumter Landing. One of the great things about TV is no overhead power lines to avoid stepping on. I can't say the same for all the snakes that will be driven out from any local flooding. |

Pic#1...if Dorian does hit as in this latest plot - and crosses FL just south of us... The north part of a hurricane contains the strongest winds/rain. Time will tell.
Pic#2...then we will see silly News?weather reporters doing their windy stand-ups.

Pleas don't use candles, new led flashlights run for a long time--candles are accidents waiting to happen
also, the night before the storm hits lower refrigerator & freezer settings for max cold |
