Is it true?? Renters in TV get priority......
over residents in the tee time system???
At a local gathering this weekend this subject was being discussed hot and heavy. Several said they were told that renters get priority because their stay is not as predictable or consistent as us residents. I refuse to believe it and am curious to your response to this subject before I call the "management" of the tee time system. I understand the old marketing ploy of have 'em stay, like we did, in villas behind the Spanish Springs sales center, get Villages Dollars to go and enjoy what the local retailers and restaurants have to offer....and yes go play a round of golf. However, that is very different from TV being in the tourism business and allowing use of our amenities. If true, I would think it COULD be easy to get a ground swell of residents to confront the developer. What do you know? What do you think? BTK |

Who controls the amenities? The residents pay monthly but have no say in how the amenities are used? Guess I still have a lot to learn about TV.

I am not sure about the renters here that are on the lifestyle preview, but I can tell you without a doubt that someone that just comes down and rents a home as a vacation thru a private owner gets ZERO preference.
On a side note, in high volume recreation activities like beginner pickleball lessons, residents get preference over guests. I teach at Truman rec center on fridays and it is always at capacity (24).. When people call to sign up they are suppose to ask if they are a guest and if they are, they are suppose to get lowest priority. jeffy |

I would recommend you call the tee time management department and get the answer and then post it for everyone here. I myself golf everyday and never have a problem getting a tee time, for 1 person or 4...GN

The first two get no special treatment. The folks on the lifestyle visit can get tee times thru the sales office. The sales office has reserved blocks of tee times available.....if they are not used the tee times are released for anyone to use. |

The only real info I've ever seen on this subject came as part of the settlement of the recent amenities lawsuit brought by six residents against the Developer. In that settlement, the Developer was granted a total of several hundred (can't remember the exact number) tee time reservations per month for his use. My understanding of that agreement is that this a total number for all TV golf courses, and that there are no other reserved times or blocks outside of this monthly allotment. On the other hand this number sounds rather small when considering the number of people who rent through the Villages in any given month.

It probably is a small number considering the total number of reservations available. However, to consider, some of the reservations that are "available" are not even feasible. For example, if you get a 2:30 pm reservation now on a championship course, you can't even finish 18 holes by sunset. Inevitably it takes 4 1/2 hours to play a round because rangers don't really do much "rangering" i.e. they don't really push the slow players along. And many of the early tee times like 7:00 a.m. go unused, becasue we get cold weather, and who wants to play golf when its 35 degrees outside. So the total number of availalbe reservations is a little misleading as well.
But the interesting thing is - if you're a priority member and you bring a guest, the guest is considered a priority guest, and the priority guest has priority over a Villages member who is not a priority member. |

Not being a golfer, the question doesn't bother me, except in principle. BUT, what I really find interesting is that this same accusation, charge, whatever was being uttered all over TV when I moved here in January 2005!
Some things never seem to change! SWR

Thats because there are always newbies to ask the same questions over and over. It usually comes about when they get bumped from a tee time.
