Default TV Relocation Service

Has anyone used TVs relocation service? Was it worth it, would you do it again? I'm interested in the pros and cons.

If you are talking about the same thing we used, it was very helpful. There was no charge. They helped us selected real estate agents for our old house and helped us select a good moving company. It was well worth the time.

I'm not sure if it's still a free service.

Susan and Tom -

Heh - I wondered what kind of response it would received.
I laughed when I saw this avatar - It reminds me of where I moved from.
Hilton Head Island, SC has lagoons everywhere with alligators in them.

But you know what? They never bothered anyone - only when they were teased or fed by a tourist, despite Do Not Feed The Alligators signs everywhere (similar to the Buffalo situation). Occasionally, a dog would go over to them and bark while they were sunning on the bank and the gators would attack them.

Needless to say, I never saw a picture like this avatar or heard of a situation like it while I lived there for 17 years.
The only time they are dangerous, from my experience, is when someone has fed them. Then they come to you for food.

We used their service last year in our move to TV from the Atlanta area.
They selected a few local realtors for us to interview and then we selected the one we were most comfortable with. Then when we were ready for the actual moving, they arranged for estimates from 3 different moving companies from which we selected one to use. They worked with us thru the entire process and we were very satisfied.
So yes, we would use them again.

I've recently talked with them.

Pro: It's free, so why not.

We're not yet selling our current home, so a realtor wasn't needed (plus we're in a small town and know the realtors). They did put us in touch with a couple/few national movers and there's supposed to be a discount, but I didn't really shop it much yet.

So, I'm curious too.

We might be the exception but we moved here abotu 6 years ago. We used the service, went with realtors they recommended but ended up changing to other realtors after a year because of inactivity. They did not help us much. We finally sold our home with a realtor we selected.

I called to inquire about using their service, but was told we won't be able to because we had already listed our house with an agent that wasn't of their choosing. So because we had done that without their help, they are not willing to help us with the rest of the move.

TV's was kind enough to recommend some movers in GA for us.

I was utterly shocked when I began to research moving companies and realzed how criminal the industry is. There are entire sites dedicated to moving scams..and not just a few...tons of horror stories out there.

The suggestions we received helped narrow things down a bit to reputable companies. Will be using one 1st week of July so will try to let you know how it goes.

jj:

Frankly, I don't think I could have done the move without their help!

They suggested three particular real estate agents (that is, three individual people from three different companies); it was up to me to select one. I didn't care for the attitude of one, never heard from a second. But the third had a good reputation in the city and was very visible in ads in the paper. I didn't like her very much personally, but she found me a buyer within a month - this is now just over three years ago.

Only a couple of movers were suggested. I chose one without interviewing because of the over-all reputation of the company. The two guys who moved my stuff out also moved it in. And, they were super! [The "boss" and driver was Mr. Five-By-Five, surely weighed over 300; the "worker-bee" was thinner than a pencil; couldn't have weighed 100 pounds soaking wet. But, they worked beautifully together and were a delight to deal with at both ends.]

So, bottom line: Yes, I would use the Relocation Service again. They certainly made it one h*** of a lot easier for me to decide whom I wanted to use!

Thanks for all the replies. We're not having too much luck so far with Relo, only one referral, actually not a referral to us but a call from a realtor who was given our info from the Relo group. Not a very impressive rep and we won't be using her so it's back to Relo for a second request.
