Default TV Will Build for At Least 20-30 Years + 4th Town Square

This plan (VOSO exhibit A) for the construction of roads was approved by Sumter County. An agreement between The Villages and Sumter County was reviewed and approved at the SC Board of County Commissioners meeting.

The agreement specifies a town square will be located in Sumter County, but not the location.

In addition to the massive size of the plans, I see these interesting items:
  • Buena Vista Blvd will be extended south of 44. It will connect to Meggison Rd which will extend into Lake County.
  • There will be roads connecting 301 to TV just south of the turnpike and south of Coleman.
  • A road will cross the turnpike south of the Okahumpka service area. Presumably the existing cattle bridge will be converted to a golf cart bridge and a vehicle bridge will be built next to it.
The roads planned for south of 470 give an indication of how far south TV will build. I know one thing ... I will be six feet under before build-out is complete.

In 20-30 years most people currently on this forum won't be here to care about anything--not our concern what the developers do-unless Morse Blv'd & Buena Vista- start to look like the LIE

So these new drawings show growth plans for another 20+ square miles beyond what we knew about up until this morning. One could extrapolate this to be another 50,000 homes south of CR470, or tripling the current size of TV in the next 30+ years. Pretty amazing plans, it will be interesting to watch it happen.

Nice find Champion6!

This is quite amazing. How many privately owned developers in this country do you feel have as much in the works as this family. To have this many square miles of land ready to go, a project to last decades, is quite remarkable.

Living in the Marion County portion of TV, this news is almost like hearing about a development in another state. I cannot imagine ever visiting the new square after we take the curiosity windshield tour...if we are still kicking.

You're kidding, right? This was all a part of his plans, the details may not have been all worked out, but his plans none the less. He and his son were busy buying up farmland in the 90's and 2000's that made up TV between CR466 and SR44, you don't jump into such a massive venture without a well thought out plan. This latest tidbit of information is just a glimpse into some of the even longer term thinking they were doing back then.

No disrespect to Mr. Schwartz but most people agree that Harold was not that big a thinker. Harold's vision was a mobile home community with amenities. It was not until he brought son Gary in that the vision expanded. Anyway - who knows? All I know is it is nothing like the Orange Blossom Gardens it originally set out to be.
