One of these days I will be able to visit the new areas. As soon as I can reach there with my golf cart. Glad I live close to Sumter Landing.

I have little sympathy for the complainers. Buyer beware. But, I do question why the developer built so many houses within about 300 feet of the Turnpike. I would have planned the development with some type of buffer, or common area between the houses and the highway. Perhaps a golf course fairway, pond, and trees adjacent to the Turnpike would have been better, and would have allowed higher prices for the houses. Just my opinion.

Huge problem in this country now, people aren’t responsible and want someone else to fix their problem.
Wake up!!
There are the complainers, and then there are the name callers. Calling someone stupid does not put you on a higher playing field. Lower I'd say.

Wait until the complaints begin from the new homes being sold near the federal prison because of lights at night or loudspeaker announcements. Even worse, the sounds and vibrations from the blasting at the quarry just west of the prison.

There is what looks like a buffer. As your driving along the turnpike you will notice you can only see the rooftops of the homes behind the hill they created. If I remember correctly the Gold Wing Nut commented on the buffer in one of his flyover videos.

Never fails to amaze me how little consideration and thought people put into major purchases now days.

Awe, come on now. Expand your horizons, get in your car and come on down. It's beautiful, relaxing and not crazy crowded like Sumter. And the people are wonderful to boot. Bring your bike or walking shoes to experience the miles of beautiful golf car free paths. Don't get the obsession with the "golf car" only mentality.

No real buffer because the developer wants people to see the beautiful homes and golf courses and move here. People who buy directly behind the turnpike get dramatic price reductions. You get a great deal then complain about noise? Really?? Sorry, no sympathy for this guy at all, none at all. You viewed it, you bought it, now either live with it or sell it, but don't expect to use our CDD money to raise the value of your home.

We looked at a very nice house in Bridgeport Lake Sumter with a pool but it backed up to Buena Vista. During our two visits we took a while to sit by the pool and could hear the constant drone of the traffic. The RE agent gave it a try "it quiets down around 5 when the traffic lessens" and "after a while you won't even notice it" but we weren't buying it. I remember saying to my wife that when we sat outside we would be continually irritated by the noise. We now live in a house where we hear the train in the distance. Not enough to be troublesome, but my wife insists the agent should have told us. Unless we had visited at odd times, we wouldn't, and didn't notice it. I guess we should have talked to more neighbors. Bottom line, do your research and live with your decisions.

if you have a golf cart path in front of your home, you'd better wave to the golfers...or else

The news article that started this thread shows a photo of a house and a truck on the Turnpike. It doesn't look like much of a buffer.

Growing up in Brooklyn lived in a house about 5 miles from Kennedy Airport and if the winds were right about every 90 seconds a plane flew over making all conversation cease.

Did get used to it after awhile but made us very cognizant for the future.
