When I lived in Southern California, I had a problem with mail delivery at the condominium that I lived in. I called the post office and let them know, but their solution was to stop delivery to me altogether. I had to go to the post office to pick up my mail for two weeks. Eventually, they started delivering my mail again, but there were still mis-deliveries. I did not complain again.

We have had a few boxes too large for the parcel box. there was Colorful stick (half a yard stick) in our mail box. On the stick, it noted to knock on the door to have parcel handed to you.

We have a good carrier. The few times there were mis-deliveries, was when there was a substitute, and right after moving here (March 2021)

Interesting because I have never had that experience. Everything I send or receive typically is delivered in one or two days.

If I were you I would talk to the postmaster in your local post office.

The LL Post Master wasn't in when I got there. I was directed to her next in line who is actually the person who communicates with all the Carriers every day regarding delivery issues. He was for many years a Carrier himself and he's very helpful.

As it turns out, the LLPM (Lady Lake Post Master) had come in at 3am this morning as she was out directly dealing and getting to the bottom of these same issues at another location in her jurisdiction.

Here's what I learned.
1. He and the LLPM take misdeliveries very seriously; however, need specifics to be able to address and misdeliveries by Carrier are tracked at the district level (i.e., 800 number or on-line). (Sounds reasonable).

2. He said as specifics & timeframes need to be established, the best method to do that is via their 800 number for complaints and/or on-line at USPS. I'll post both of those below.

When I asked if that would really help, he told me that he obviously couldn't disclose any details, but did say that they had just spoken to a Carrier that morning who had 6 complaints filed with the 800 number in the last month. This first conversation he said was a warning. More complaints filed for the Carrier will result in probation. He told me that the 800 number or on-line complaints are tracked by Carrier / Location and even though the results aren't shared with the person who filed the complaint, they are handled internally as performance issues.

Let it also be noted that on-line you can also COMPLIMENT a Carrier in a specific area. If you have a really great Carrier, go on-line and post that as well.

Here's the number to call: 1-800-275-8777 (you may have to wait on hold or leave a message and they'll call you back).

On-Line filing: Email Us
(Once submitted, you'll get a notification in your email as well).

Note: This above on-line filing is where you can also leave compliments. There's an icon that says "Personnel" and you can click on that for individuals. A few people in the previous post mentioned they had great Carriers, this would be a nice place to recognize those people officially.

Well, I'll see what happens with my package complaint. As it turns out, I spoke with the sender who I ordered from and they got it back marked "Return to Sender / Refused". They said the package is too long to probably even fit in a parcel locker (where the tracking said it was delivered, but no key in my mailbox). I suggested to the guy at the post office I was speaking with that the Carrier probably found it wouldn't fit in the parcel locker, didn't want to bother delivering it to my door and just marked it refused. He told me to definitely file a complaint on-line with the info from the tracking, dates, etc. so it's of official record. His look and comment told me that what I suspect happened is probably exactly what did happen. The business is resending to me.

Well, that's it. If you have more than a few misdeliveries, please report them. If you have a great Carrier that goes out of their way for their customers on their route, report that as well. This should work both ways.
All as I know is almost every time I mail a letter, card etc. up north it takes between seven to ten days to get there. On a number of occasions they did not get there at all. Same thing when my family mails something down to us. Not sure what it is but have never experienced this anywhere else we have lived.

Thank you for taking the time to find a solution as well as sharing it with us. That was very helpful!
We've lived here almost 12 yrs and generally haven't had mail issues other than sometimes it took a long while to go where we sent it OR for in-coming to get here, but that's not the fault of the postal stations in my neighborhood. One issue though is mail that wasn't ours being put in our box and vice versa. Most often it's someone whose house number is the same but not the street. We will get mail from someone a block or two over or they will get something of ours. Only once I would have had issues as it was mail-order medication. The good thing was I didn't need it immediately as it was a refill and I had enough on hand. IF this was something consistent, then we'd have to do a followup but I cut the sorters a bit of slack. Oh...and mail that's shipped....we've even had a carrier deliver it on a weekend or after postal hours, when they got down at the station.

I've been experiencing many issues with the post office lately, and trying to get through by phone was impossible. Thank you for this information!

That has always been the case. DeJoy is trying to put the PO out of business. He needs to be fired immediately but only the Board of Governors can do that and Dumpers still have the majority.

if you really don't like the job that the USPS is doing, it's pretty easy to bypass them on the majority of incoming and outgoing mail

except for the junk mail that seems to be increasing

On outgoing mail, we were disappointed in the time it took for mail dropped at our local mail station to arrive at their destination. So now we drive to the Wildwood PO to mail our time sensitive mail. We have seen cards reach San Francisco in 3 days. Mail going to more rural areas may take a day longer.

I guess you didn't bother to read the post, the OP was very happy with the attitude of Post Office employees and complimented them on their interest in solving her problem.

It seems some people have an "agenda" and are so consumed with it, that they only need to read a thread title to jump in and post their canned response.

I think it's in someone's box who is not here.
You may have spoken to the same guy I did up at Lady Lake PO. I thought he was great. Nice to hear you also got a good response and I hope they find your package.
