But valet parking really is a practical and affordable solution for anyone who:

- cannot walk far;

- has to get out and push the spouse in a wheelchair and cannot just dump him/her or some grandchildren at the curb while they go and park out in the back lots, and then hoof it back to the spouse;

- wisely thinks about personal safety, and is maybe a single woman who does not feel safe walking to her car in the dark, thru the huge parking lots behind the stores/restaurants;

- does not want to get soaking wet from walking in the rain from far away parking, 15 minutes after they got showered and dressed up and fixed their hair for a night out, and they don't want to sit like a wet dog in a theater or restaurant;

- many other practical reasons.
Great post!!

Yes. It is optional. But please don't make it out as some generous service provided by the developer to help the needy. It's there for people who can't walk long distances IF they have the money to pay for it. It's another money making endeavor and nothing more.

Seniors are notorious for being frugal. I give the valet service 2 months before it disappears. Just curious, has anyone on here used it?

Run by the owner of the airport shuttle service..........not the Developer.

I'm not sure it's about being frugal. We have a lot of people in TV who are physically challenged.
If valet parking isn't a needed service, it won't last. Time will tell.

And you have a problem with money making endeavors?

I have used it in Spanish Springs and found it efficient. The people were friendly and courteous. The price was reasonable. I will use it again. They did tell me that the LSL service was doing better than SS. Not sure frugal is the right word.....not do I accept the stereotype "seniors as an your underlying reasoning.

Glad to hear from someone who has actually used it. We use valet parking, or used to, at many places. Of course it's a moneymaker. But it's also a convenience--one that wasn't available in TV before.

Oh you say they can exit to the side which of course means you can't park any Cars there either. So, four carts take up either 3 or 4 parking spaces in order to ensure each of them can get out when they are ready. Another question, how does Valet parking help people who can't walk? Wouldn't their disability be just as problematic unless their final destination was the precise location as the Valet drop off point. Seems it would be simpler to be dropped off in front of the ultimate destination and have the driver park the car.

NewGuy, I have read your post a half dozen times and I still can't figure out what the heck you are talking about.

Forgive me if I'm wrong, but it seems like you don't understand the concept of Valet Parking.

Do you understand that the spaces reserved Valet Parking are a STAGING AREA for valet parking? A Staging Area, as in people pull up in their vehicle (car or golf cart), get out of their vehicle, and walk away...while the valet personnel drive their vehicle away and park it somewhere else. Carts and cars aren't parked in the valet spaces.

As for the folks who may need to use this service, there is a big difference between walking across the street to the square, and walking the equivalent of 2 or 3 blocks from one of the back parking lots to get to the square.

What am I missing here?

I have noticed in spanish springs the valet staging area ballards, or poles, and signs are left out when there are no valet service being tended taking up the spaces by the Rialto. Are these devices now anchored into the pavement?

I get a kick out of all the hoopla a common service has created. It's like it just came to Mayberry.

I think NewGuy has misunderstood the concept of Valet Parking. You've explained it very well.
Also, NewGuy said:
"

This would only work if the driver were able bodied and able to walk a few blocks, which is not necessarily the case.
It may be a money-making endeavor, but it won't be successful unless it's a needed service.
