Remember that you are driving a vehicle not designed for a crash at 30 MPH. You, as a driver may survive, but your passenger or occupant of another cart you hit may not. Accidents do happen. Slow down and "enjoy life".

There does seem to be carts that go significantly faster than 20 mph. Our cart a top speed does almost exactly 20 mph and there've been more than few times when carts come up behind us when we're going at our top speed, zip on by at the first available opportunity (or even when there isn't an available opportunity) and disappear into the distance. Maybe not a lot, but enough to make the MMPs with the heaviest traffic more dangerous than they need to be.

Limiting a golf cart to 20 mph isn't a Villages rule, its Florida law. But, like far too many Florida laws, the law here in TV seems more inclined to wink at it than enforce it.

My cart only goes 20 as well and I've experienced the same thing. However, 2 points:

a) If someone safely, repeat safely passes you on an MMP, even if they are going 23, how does that make it more dangerous?

b) Why does anyone care if they get passed by a faster vehicle. It seems to be an almost universal rule---those that drive the slowest hate to get passed---they just want to lead a parade. How often, let's say on SR44, 55 mph zone, do you encounter someone going 40 in the left lane. When you go to pass them they're up to 70 or more. If you drop back behind them, they're right back to 40. I'd love one of those bozos to explain that action to me.

I-95 through SC is awful. Where I live in central NY I have a choice between I-95 around DC, or I-81 via Roanoke and eventually 77 to Charlotte. Both routes eventually get to 95 in SC. The I-81 route used to be great, but now with all of the trucks it's terrible. One truck will pass another truck up a hill going 1/2mph faster than the truck it's overtaking. I have measured as much as 10 miles of roadway for one truck to pass another, both going less than the speed limit. Then you have a 10 mile train of pi$$ed off impatient drivers trying to get around the trucks before another attempt. It's constant white-knuckle driving.
Other than DC, I prefer I-95 because although you have all the trucks, it's not as hilly and when they pass each other they don't need 10 miles to do it.

In any one particular instance, it most likely doesn't make the transgression in question "more dangerous". The danger in my opinion (as well as that of the NHTSA) lies in significantly varying speeds. Add to the fact that older people often react more slowly (or erroneously) when faced with something significantly different than what they are used to, just increases the risk. Traffic moving at more or less the same speed is far safer than traffic moving at significantly different speeds, no matter what the roadway in question might be.

It was very good, but apparently closed for good---another COVID victim. They were only open 6 month/year and had a sister restaurant for the other 6 months in Florida, but I have no idea of where or what it's named. They had the largest king crab legs I've ever seen and their prime rib was cooked over an open hearth, the "Truman Cut" was the center 2 ribs and weighed 7 1/2 pounds. Once saw a guy 5'5" and about 130# down the whole thing.
