I've driven down Marsh bend trail and county road 470 hundreds of times. There is no clear view of the prison buildings. It's behind a wooded area, which would presumably block out the sounds even more.

As another poster stated, the land is owned by the federal government. Do not expect the area "as is" will remain that way. The government is free to do what they want with their land. Even enlarge the prison. This is also true of the cement factory and quarry.

The poster went on and gave a great example. Look what the electric company did with their property near the Village of Citrus Grove. Expanded! Now, it is an unslightly view for some homes.

Blasting? Come join us in St. Johns on Lake Okahumpka. During duck season the shot guns start at dawn. A great alarm just as the sun comes up. Several of the $1M+ homes with pools & view lots facing the lake have gone up for sale shortly after the one year mark.

I come from a house that was near a military shooting range, and my house isn't right on the lake, so it doesn't bother me much. But some of the people in the community Facebook group have been unpleasantly surprised and disturbed.

There are many considerations when buying a house. In a place like TV with both so many options and competition for lots, you really need to decide what is important to you. And you need to do some research into things that your sales agent will never tell you about.

The people here have certainly responded with both their concerns and why others' concerns are not theirs. Take it all with grains of salt and make your own choices.

FWIW, we did all that and had our eye on a particular house in a particular place. Then another house popped up and we bought based on a cell phone video tour. We love it. But, we had done all that research so when our current house popped up, we knew it checked lots of our boxes and we were able to move.

We can hear the gunshots for opening day, in Richmond, then mostly on the weekend. Not a big deal up north we are surrounded by 5 lakes so gunshots echo everywhere, weekends are busy in the mornings.

Our houses up north are also surrounded by woodland. So that 5 point buck may be dinner next week. I don’t mind them coming up from the lakes with ducks, but the hauling of dead deer can be a little disturbing to the kids in the neighborhood, walking to the school bus.

Maybe all the million dollar houses in St John’s are just going up for sale because of the one year is up to make profit.

Can’t believe anyone who is near a lake in TV doesn’t have a clue…hunting is legal in Florida just like any other state.

The government has taken great steps in ensuring that the Coleman facility is not visible from any public roads. It wouldn't make sense for them to all of the sudden decide that they don't care about that.

Well, having moderated multiple music forums (talk about herding cats!), I've found that most confusion and many arguments can be avoided by doing just that.

I’d be more worried about potential health hazard of living in close proximity of a cement factory (there are many studies on the subject that one can search and draw their own conclusions). For me anyway, it makes Moultrie Creek a non-starter. But again, do your own research on the subject and make your own judgements.

Te view is hideous. It isn’t covered at all by any vegetation and the lights on the factory are running 24/7. The prominent towers are more than 200 foot high. The place never seems to shut down and is almost adjacent to Central Parkway. That would definitely be my non starter.
