Well this will bring down the Hellfire and brimstone, but I must take issue with the statement from "the Boss." After reading this post yesterday, I felt compelled to call my son to verify this information. He was the general manager of a local establishment at Spanish Springs. He worked at the same place for six years and moved his way up through the business. It had changed hands but he was not only retained but given leadership duties. I asked him if there was any monies given to The Villages as a result of sales. He said that indeed, once they reached a sales "goal", a percentage of sales after that benchmark were paid back to The Villages. His particular company had a $500,000 benchmark. They generally met that by April each year. This would put considerable strain on the finances through the summer.
Now, the question he couldn't answer was "who" actual was the entity that received the funds. It may well not be the Sales and Leasing group, but it was a Villages company. He went on to say that the local businesses at SS and LS have bonded together the last few years to form, in his words, "a type of union" in order to deal with The Villages. They use a collective voice to get the deserved attention to any particular matter.

Sounds simple to me. Sales and leasing are just real estate people. The property is owned by the developer. The developer collects the rent and determines the terms of a lease.

I absolutely agree. Ask anyone who works behind the little counter at Publix how it works. They THINK they know but they do not. The owner of the business is the one who signs the papers, not the kid who manages and orders the pizza ingredients.

I am in now way surprised by your comment. Um...excuse me? He was the General Manager. You may not know so let me school you a bit. He handled payroll, paid the bills, scheduled, balance the P&L and handled all contracts through the Franchise owner. He did a just a little more than ordered ingredients. But hey, I'm sure you are right......
As I wrote earlier, my guess is that the sales and leasing group is not the group that collect but a separate entity of TV.

I think that GG was talking in general about store employees speculating about how the company works. Your son is obviously in a position of authority. I honestly don't think she was questioning his expertise.

I hope that you call Renick's office. I think we would all like to know whether he was "talking out of two sides of his mouth".

I agree with Bare that GG was not commenting on your son and was commenting on run-of-the-mill, garden variety employees.

Just weeks ago, my SO, who is a real estate investor, and I were in to the Harley Davidson shop in LSL and he got into a long conversation with the owner. It was mentioned during this conversation that 10% commission on sales were paid back to TV. Which department, I don't know. This was the OWNER, not one of the "so-called, run-of-the-mill garden variety (whatever that means) employees." By the way, TV could not function without these employees, so lets not talk down to them.
