Two that quickly come to mind are the traffic lights at Colony, and the wall being taken down and replaced by a gate.

For me and mine, we are very happy here in Lower Paradise. We have the fourth lowest taxes in all of Florida here in Sumter county. We now have almost all of the places people love to shop and none of the restaurants a passle of New York City folks pine for. We are attracting KIDS under 55 who want to live with old-er people as long as they can have a youth group all to themselves and we are the fastest growing municipality in the U.S. There must be a lot good that draws people here. I am certainly a fan.

OLD Gracie.
Gracie expresses my feelings precisely.

BTW, for singles folks OLD is the acronym for on line dating

There is a workshop session being held in Wildwood this week HOWEVER the public will not be allowed a voice. We have some representatives who are looking out for our best interests and we have seen the proposed drawings. With this directly in my back yard I am very happy that it will be build by the Villages developer. We KNOW that it will be done correctly, swiftly and will be beautiful. Will I like everything about this new project? Probably not but it sure is better than another 3 story assisted living project at my back door or an apartment complex with screaming kids and barking dogs. Thanks Gracie for your thoughts, I usually totally agree with you. I get so sick of complainers. But then some people are never happy no matter what.

Yes yes yes. I am yet to see anything done in-reference to expansion that has been done in any way problematic.

Default CCD's run by citizens.

All but the commercial CCD's will eventually be turned over to the citizens in their respective districts. That's the way it works. So if you prefer to have the developer maintain control then "if people find that they can't like how it is run,... they can place their home on the market, sell it quickly, make a profit, and move to an area more conducive to their ideas of perfect."

I hope we don't lose you Gracie, but if you cannot abide by citizen participation you may need to follow your own advice.

That is also my understanding of CCD's in the State of Florida and what will happen in The Villages.

I don't see that ever happening.....

As soon as the developers gives away there control, the IRS will swoop in, and the developers know that, so as long as they keep building, and the CDD keeps paying the lawyers to stall, the IRS will wait.....I assure you.... but it will happen....someday...

The Villages is a thriving and popular retirement community, no-one disputes that.
Did the Developer occasionally make less than perfect decisions?
Sure he did, and most people don't dispute that either.
Many of us have a few little hot buttons that don't detract from the overall praise we have for the Developer.
And the joy we feel about living in this wonderful retirement community.
My personal hot button is the lack of adequate dog parks. I think a some of us have a few other issues, for instance, the "pretend" gates.

In my humble opinion, it is quite OK to question the way TV is being run, or how money is being spent.
The Developer and now his kids are in business to make money, not to be a charitable organization, and that is how it should be.
However issues like the Cattle Baron closing should be discussed, even it if it private enterprise and therefore none of our business.
I'm not a fan of petty complaints, but I don't want people who find TV less than perfect to be discouraged.

Ok, I agree with the wall though as I remember the lights a Colony was the result of a longer term plan dilemma, tunnel, overpass, maned etc. The lights help but the backups still exist.

The question was "What change specifically have you seen results as a result of people complaining," not did it work!

The Sharon Morse Theatre, according to their video was a result of Villagers asking for a better theatre.
Didn't people complain about how "middle school" the Savannah auditorium was? the chairs, acoustics, stage

Does that count?

I believe the residential CDDs boards will eventually be populated by residents, but the overall governance of TV will remain in the hands of the central districts, so I do not expect residents will ever have "control" unless they buy out the developer's interest in the commercial areas.

It does make sense in that you wouldn't want a residential CDD to own the amenities and be able to determine who could use which rec center or executive course. You also wouldn't want a residential CDD to decide that common area plantings were superfluous and rip them out and replace with concrete or rock. Or to let MM paths deteriorate, or ???

As usual, Gracie nails it!!!!

TV is not perfect but as close as your going to get and it sure beats what's in second place, by a mile. IMHO

TV can be possibly imitated but never duplicated!!!
