The Villages will one day be on a severe decline, to the same extent as today it is on the severe incline. It is currently fueled by untold quantities of Baby Boomers who saved their entire life, invested, and many of whom have pensions. The next generations to come, almost none of that holds true. As the Boomers die off there were be no hoards of people in a financial position to do what the Boomers did and then tons of deceased Boomer's houses on the market with no one to buy. Ultimately, it will have to open up to non-55'ers to purchase to in order to get things sold and have someone to pay the ongoing fees and taxes.

I disagree with most of this. Our kids have worked hard and saved hard. They have good jobs and nice houses, and one has a vacation home.

Plus when the Boomers are gone, their kids will have the houses and $ inheritance their Boomer parents left behind. Ours are going to split our two houses between them. It's not like we Boomers didn't have any kids so there will be nobody left behind to snap up these homes. Or the leftover money.

You’re missing an entire generation. Gen X. That’s ME! We work hard. Still do! I love my job, make great money and have no interest in retiring any time soon. But I work about 4 months a year and live a retired lifestyle otherwise, so here is perfect for me. Who retires at 55 anymore?

This post makes no sense. The person says he loves it here, and blames the size for not being a gated community? the two are not related. . . or is the poster trying to make the argument for a 24 hour gated community based on the total size and a generalized net percentage statistic?

Looks like someone's mind is playing tricks drawing fearful conclusions from disparate datasets. The brain is designed for survival. . If one reads too much negative news, survival mode kicks in. . . making fearful conclusions where none exists.

The houses and other homes being built near 466A before 462 are not occupied yet and there are traffic problems already having to do with volume of cars. The builder keeps building and a lot of roads can’t be enlarged. The reason we all moved here years ago will be gone soon.
