I agree. I didn't take offense - it was clearly meant to be humorous, and he did a good job. It made my day. He showed a bunch of old people having a good time, and poked a little harmless fun at them. What is wrong with that? Lighten up people. I would be proud to have a son with such a good sense of humor and creative sense to be able to make a video like that. And I totally agree with some of the things he poked fun at, I do so myself. Walking dogs in strollers? Eew.

Honestly, this 'kid" has a future, he may be a John Stoessel for senior citizens. Everyone's sense of humor is different. I've fw'ed his blog to lots of friends. Guess no one saw Glen Bleck's lost golf cart trip in the villages.

I thought it was a cute video, and not worthy of losing one's job over. However, the Developer's main goal is to sell TV concept, which primarily includes selling lifestyle and homes. They are very serious about that and don't take very kindly to light sarcasm or a comic finger poked at the antics of us old folks. The Villages takes The Villages very seriously.

Most companies do.

But we only know what we read on this forum.

I have heard so many stories in my life from indignant parents. Love is a wonderful thing.

Probably the only thing that could have gotten the builder agitated--was when he stated the houses all look the same--if all the houses were different--we wouldn't been spending so much on landscaping & driveway detailing--its a feeble attempt to proclaim some degree of individuality--if you're in a designer neighborhood--thats the look--if you're in a courtyard villa neighborhood its the look--its most evident when your on 466A and you're alongside the new section in Fruitland Park--zero lot lines--honestly looks like military base housing

Yes, that's true. It's a development and it shows.

I am beginning to understand your way of talking a little better.

I am pretty sure it isn't a huge issue with you. Good morning Chat brat. I love it here too.

[QUOTE=rubicon;1148199]Yes but then you would have to defend that position. Most states are "at will" states but once you cite a reason for firing someone you need to defend that at cause offense.

Can you explain how that works?

Villageswimmer 11-20-2015 08:09 AM

Anyone know what sort of position he held?

SKIMAN 11-20-2015 08:20 AM

when working for the company store the company rules....

fredthefisherman 11-20-2015 08:23 AM

In Florida you do not need a reason to fire an employee nor do you need to defend it. That is how "at will" works.

graciegirl 11-20-2015 09:25 AM

When you work for the company, you become the company....unless you don't want to be promoted and make more money.

For some that is an abomination. For others it is a goal.

fredthefisherman 11-20-2015 09:34 AM

Yep, that's pretty much how it works.

rustyp 11-20-2015 09:37 AM

Yep - you can pretty much screw up a lifetime with that philosophy. Many regret that decision latter in life.
