Actually, in the real world it is called protecting your brand and has nothing to do with their sense of humor.

I can understand why The Villages Media wouldn't think this was a positive message. Like I said previously, the mention of swinging, etc. Is not the reputation they want perpetuated. I think he was not very smart for posting it since he works for them, but telling him to remove it and giving him a warning would have worked. Perhaps this isn't the only reason he was let go or perhaps his empoyment agreement forbid things like this.

I found it quite silly and stupid and a bit offensive
and never did figure out the point to it.
I think that he is jealous of us old farts having all the fun
and I ASSUME that he isn't and perhaps needs to get a life.
Does he actually live in TV ?
It surprises me how outsiders have so much to say about, and
think that they know, how it is to live in The Villages when they don't live here.
Where do they get their information or are they ASSUMING?

Do some posters believe sharing their same viewpoint over and over again will change mine. Oh dear I forgot what mine was.

What do you think? Funny or offensive?

This is what it's like to live in The Villages as a young person | Blogs | Orlando Weekly
It is funny and true. Too bad head Villages brain washer found out about it. It is sad when someone is fired for something so trivial. Heck if the residents can't have a chuckle or two about their chosen lifestyle, then it will no longer be a chosen lifestyle will it. We are finding more and more people who have lived here for years, who are very unhappy with the money grabbing changes that have continued since the younger Morse family took over.

I enjoy seeing stuff about The Villages. I don't take any of it seriously.

About being fired... If he worked for the Villages, particularly the media group, he should know that his job its to promote the image The Villages wants to promote. If he worked for the media group he should have known that he would have to get approval from his boss before releasing any video that would suggest the lifestyle of the residents.

This film is funny, but not that funny, and not that very well done. Professional behavior when working for a firm should be taught in college. Anyone who has worked for any corporation knows that you have a responsibility to not poop where you eat unless you are independently wealthy and don't need the job.

Agree on all counts.

Plus, I still doubt we know all relevant details.

that is the real world. Some may think its funny and some may not. "Marketing" focuses on what will please/sell the majority. Even reading the comments here, there's not a consensus that the video was funny. You can't risk offending potential buyers. It doesn't matter what we think - we've already purchased. Its a business of selling a lifestyle and whether you think his video was funny or not, someone may be turned off and a potential sale is lost.

This is what I learned from this thread.

Village resident are so overly conscious about The Villages that anything causally connected to it will be discussed ad nauseam

Its clear posting is one way meaning people post to share their opinion and not to change minds

Some posters take personal any criticism of The Villages

Most posters are generous and fair minded people

Based on this topic I, if needing a jury trial ,would be relieved if the jury pool were all pulled from people living in The Villages....except for that 60 something guy that arrested for using crack

Personal Best Regards:

I believe our local gene pool may need a bit more chlorine. Look at that - it's Feb 2nd again.
