Default Villages or outside contractor for closet organizers???

My design meeting is coming up, and I'm wondering if people recommend having bedroom closet organizers done during the build by the Villages, or having them done by an outside contractor after the closing. If after the closing, any contractor recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

Unless things have changed and you liked wire shelving, outside contractor after closing.

How do you even know if you need closet organization? Get rid of everything you haven't used in a year, and see if the builder designed closets will accomodate your stuff. If not, you can buy a few shelf units, or hire an outside contractor, if you want.

I rearranged the original wire shelving, by raising the original shelving, adding a second one about halfway between the floor and the recently moved shelf. Left one wall for longer items. Later I added additional wire shelving above the highest shelf for the once a year stuff. This appears to provide way more space for clothes than any custom cabinets with lots of drawers and small shelves, and cost almost nothing. Just my humble opinion, but it works very well for us.
My point is you might want to move in and see what you actually need before you spend thousands of dollars for custom cabinets.

I am sure the Villages can do the shelving and the pool before you move in. All depends on what you want done prior to moving in or after. As others have said get in the house first and go from there (speaking from our experience). Trust me, you will be unpacking and organizing stuff for the first year at least and that is IF you totally clean house prior to your move.

Closets are an easy do it yourself project. If you need help, there are always plenty of great neighbors.

Everything is half the price with an outside contractor compared to the design team. We waited a year after we moved in to know exactly what we needed. Did just the master closet. Then negotiated the price with the closet designer. Very happy with the results and price.

Default Closet Organizers

We measured our closets and visited the IKEA in Orlando. The salesperson helped us design our closet organizers both shelves and drawers. Since IKEA does not deliver to TV she ordered them for us online and the boxes were delivered to our home by UPS. The instructions were super easy to follow.

We just had our master closet done by Custom Home Closets. Kimberly came out and measured and maximized every inch of it for a few hundred more than doing my self. they use the same materials as California closets. very happy with the results. They have a showroom on 301 just nothing of Wildwood. If you call them feel free to give them my name. Their # 352-748-9181

Not mentioned so far in this thread is the tax consequences in that you will be paying real estate taxes on the price of the closets for as long as you own your home if purchased from the builder

We used Bravo Installations to do our pantry and the master closet. Got rid of the useless wire shelving. Much more efficient use of space!

We did the same. Kimberly was great, not worth DIU.
The shelves were also movable.

We have used the same person (company) in 3 of our homes. He does an excellent job at a fair price. Closets and Pull Out shelving is all he does.

I did the same closet design that Tinker suggested. I like big open shelves…then I can add whatever bins I want to use.
I hired a handyman to replace the wire shelving with white laminated boards and new rods. The closets feel spacious but were economical.
Take your time….your thoughts will change once you’re in the house
