Default Update on Sweetbay

Recently I heard a rumor that because Publix was going to open a store on the western end of 466A near the proposed Sweetbay store that Sweetbay had pulled out. Today I spoke with Iggy, the manager at the LSLS store. He said that they still own the property and are still going to build it. He also said it would be a larger store than the present one. They have decided to push it back from late 2012 to 2013. The idea is to wait until more houses are built down there. For some reason all the stores think that the people south of 446A are the only ones who will shop there. I told him that I travel approximatelt 15-18 minutes to get to their present store and I would gladly shop there. I also told him that when I am limited on time I go to Publix because of the drive.
When I aksed him if there was any way to expidite the opening, he said that emailing WWW.Sweetbay.com and asking for a sooner opening date is the thing which would help the most. I intend to do just that and would encourage anyone who wants another store whether it be for distance or for store size to do it also. He does think that Publix will be building down there also but did not indicate whether he felt they would close Colony. I would guess NO. Get on it LOL

Publix is not Subway. Why would they invest in another store less than 5 miles from the one at Colony. Does not make sense to me.

Look at the Publix at Spanish Springs and at the old Albertson's and on 466 and on 42. All three are within 5 miles of one or another. There must be enough demand to have them so close.

I expect the crowd at Colony Plaza's stores including Publix to rise to excruciating levels before the new place finally gets going. The stores in Wildwood will thus become more viable options.

Not that this is from the peverbial horse's mouth but I had a conversation with a Publix employee at Colony this morning and was told that Publix is building a store on 466A over by that Sweet Bay sign. Sooo guess it's a toss-up on whose right. Nonetheless another store is greatly needed as well as another pharmacy as the Colony Walgreen's is nutsy with business!!! JMHO!

Are grocery prices lower outside of TV? Say in Belleview or Leesburg?

We buy Hannaford brand yogurt here in Maine for $1.69 but Sweet Bay at LSL charges $2.49 for the exact same product. I'm curious what the price is for that product is in Belleview.

I know of one gal who shops outside (441--Leesburg) for groceries and claims it's cheaper. However factoring in gas to get there and time...I'm more for convenience! I have also noticed that grocery prices have gone up AND my iced coffee that I stop for from time to time has increased as well by about .20-cents!

Grocery prices in the northeast (and for all I know everywhere else) are generally lower than they are here Amazingly lower in Maine and R.I. Don't know why exactly.
