Default Villages Regional Hospital. Luck of the draw.

I ended up in the ER last night. Slipped on a wet trailer tailgate and fell onto my right hand, folded under my chest. Still very painful, but thank God, no breaks. Sprained tendons.

Anyway, Amity and I went into the ER at a little after 10 p.m. (Saturday night no less) and were on our way home at 12:10. Much better than the last time, with Amity's broken arm. In at 7:30 p.m. and out at 4 a.m on that one.

In both cases, the staff were wonderful. The triage nurse, a lovely lady from Ireland is just marvelous. I wish I knew her name.

Yikes Tony...I am glad you are okie but sorry you in pain. I am sure sprained tendons would be very painful. I hope that you heal fast and feel back to your ole self very soon.
That is very good to hear good news about the ER that is very important. Long waits in the ER are the pits.

Maybe a nice letter to the hospital with the names of people who were helpful would be nice. Just a little Thank You

I disagree that the time frame in which you are treated at TVRH is the luck of the draw. I think that is rather an insult to the hospital and staff.
Emergency rooms are operated on the triage system, not luck of the draw.
Anyway...glad your injury was minor and your treatment swift.

I know all administrators look alike to most people. However, Tony is Tony and I'm Jan. I have nightmares about people thinking I am Tony.

I am sorry to hear of your fall.

The triage nurse's name is Erin GoBra. (JUST kidding!)

We had occasion to visit the emergency room last summer at two in the morning when our 15 year old grandson had a very unexpected asthma attack. There was no wait. He was immediately given a breathing treatment while his mother gave the information. Very Very good indeed. We were out in an hour with a filled prescription too.

Luck of the draw!!!!! By that I mean it is luck of the draw if they are busy or not. I think is was pretty clear what I meant. No need to hunt for ghosts.

Default Often wondered ..........

Anybody ever wonder what the differance is between a "night" mare and a "day" mare other than the time of the said occurence?

Neat bumper sticker. Went like this: "It's God's job to judge terrorists. Our job is to arrange the meeting!"

I know I can be a bit Pollyannaish at times, and got my hackles aroused by the POA's jihad against the hospital. Add to that my actual real-life ignorance of first-person hospital experiences --- prior to 1+ year ago, I had spent a total of 1 night in a hospital for "observation" since tonsils at 7 or 8.

However, I've seen the ER twice and had hospital stays 3 times of late. Got out Friday after a pneumonia diagnosis, a centesis, some tests and med treatments and more observation. Was there for a week.

My observations: everyone was totally professional. The vast, vast majority were personable and charming and all cared. From the intake lady at ER to the discharge nurse a week later, I couldn't have asked for better. In a week, I went thru a goodly number of nurses and technicians. As Jan's luck of the draw would hold, with some of these men & women I developed an instant rapport. With others, the "relationship" stayed more formal. No problem. Not everyone warms to everyone and likely those I found a bit stiff were different with the guy in the next room.

Now I said all that BS to get to this --- I have found The Villages Regional Medical Center to be a great place with great people. I'd also salute the home care program and the oxygen/walker people for their aftercare -- all arranged by the great aftercare program at TVRMC. It ain't all roses -- the television remotes suck and the food is, well . . . hospital food.

Hi Muncle, I knew you were MIA and I hope your feeling better real soon. Had I known where you were, I would have brought you some GOOD food and some batteries for the remote.

Take care, and feel better... Kath
