Now why would you say that? I think it’s the safest activity in the villages. You must not be a golfer.

This gossip post on TOV is a perfect example of WHY they would prefer it to be kept quiet.
Because they KNOW there are thousands of old bittys just aching for a juicy half-baked story to spread around...

HOW can ANYONE blame/put a finger on WHERE someone contracted "the Rona"?
It's ridiculous!
Cases like these are the reason that tort limitations on "blame" for infection/death are necessary....

And, as previously mentioned, it's up to YOU, personally, to take precautions....like cleaning things YOURSELF (not taking someone ELSE'S word for it)...keep your paws out of your mouth...and to decide for YOURSELF whether or NOT to work a job where you contact literally hundreds of people a day.
If reports of this person's health are true, I'd have to guess that being an ambassador wasn't the ONLY poor decision they made...
RIP

The villages is going along with the people who think this virus is no big deal. It’s not a matter of people just taking care of themselves, our decisions could result in affecting other people and someone dying. Since there is this selfish attitude here and downplaying the numbers who have died, it gives them permission not to follow the guidelines. Something medical has turned into something political. The villages wants to promote this as a safe place with few cases so they can sell more houses.

Does anyone know exactly HOW MANY VILLAGERS HAVE DIED FROM COVID? Keep seeing the names of the same two women but I know there have been more than two deaths from the virus. What happened to the male pickel ball player who was hospitalized? Why isn’t anyone interested in the number of deaths?

Read the op post again. They did not work there so they didn’t observe it first hand. Their neighbor worked there.

The paranoia out there over this virus is just totally ridiculous.
Based upon today numbers for the US the death rate is 3.3% of cases. And deaths follows weeks behind the number of cases diagnosed. This is not the flu!

I am always sorry to hear of the passing of a friend or loved one. COVID has led to misinformation and fear. I have always believed that people do the right thing when they are told the truth. Instead we have been fed information the media has spoon fed us, not always the truth. Conspiracy theories still abound. I suggest that we all choose our “bubble” of friends and do what is right for our situation while continuing to wear a mask in public. This unfortunately has led to strained friendships because others don’t understand. As one with several pre-existing conditions I continued to have little contact with people outside of my bubble. I haven’t seen my kids and grandkids since Thanksgiving. It isn’t easy. But if we are smart we will get through this. Stay safe everyone.

And in addition the CDC for the flu season ended April 2020 estimated flu deaths at between 24,000 and 62,000 deaths. In the season ended April 2019 the CDC estimated 34,200 deaths. Covid deaths as of today are more than 161,000.

Any comparison to the flu is totally irresponsible!

Every day there is an update for SUMTER COUNTY. Yesterday there were 29 new cases of Covid-19 in Sumter County. One person died from it yesterday here in Sumter County. That is what I watch. The first part of July it held at 17 deaths for a LONG time and now in four weeks it has more than doubled to 42. That may include prisoners and does not include people in the areas close by in Lake County and Marion County that are part of The Villages. These are the best and most dependable statistics I can find and they show me that in the last four weeks that the area close to home has lost people faster than at any time since March. Here are the stats I follow if anyone is interested. Plus. Don't blame The Villages. People have free will in the choices they make. Most of us CAN stay home if we want to.

Picking and choosing your activities has nothing to do with cases. Without contact tracing how would it be determined where the virus was contracted at a rec center or some other activity?
What information would you want published in the Daily Sun?
Your statements make no sense, since there is no logical way to do what you are asking.
Your safety is your responsibility......
Some of your statement I agree with, BUT if you were to reread the original post, NOWHERE does it state, the unfortunate person who passed CAUGHT the virus at the course. The poster indicates their friend was uncomfortable with having to share certain items.
Bravo for the poster who said he’s a cleaner at Palmer. Question do you think he stands at the restroom doors and cleaned after each use? I can’t say, but I bet not. After he cleans all you need is that one person and bingo.
I only agree with TDS part of your post.
