How do a get a pass and what does it cost so they can use amenities? Also, one buddy is the worst golfer on earth. Can he rent clubs? What's the best course for novices? You can all come to watch - he loses a million balls. But, he tries very hard.

I think I'm learning the sound of a well-hit ball. TACK! If it sounds like tink! It is probably in the neighbor's yard. Send him over to Destin course at Bonifay and watch with me while he loses balls. Kitty ps did you find the egg goo on Big Red? |

For the easiest Executive course - which is where the "world's worst golfer" should play - you have either El Santiago or Turtle Mound.
As for renting clubs - you can do that at any Championship club - and you do not have to play that course. As for fees - the guest pass does not cost you anything to get for your friend. He has to pay $11 to play on the Executive courses per round. The guest pass (good for 30 days and is renewable) gets your friend into everything in The Villages except the Sports Pools. It even lets them to go into Katie Belle's by themself. It would be a waste of time to get him on a Championship course and he would have just as much fun on an Executive course. Sure, there are excellent golfers in The Villages but the people I play with are not in that category. We just get out on the Executive courses a couple of times a week and do our best and we all have fun. Some days are good and some really suck - but just like the pro golfers - that is golf! |

Geewiz, I don't know if it's a rule or not but on the executive courses we don't hit more than double whatever par is. Then you pick up your ball so you can keep up with play and don't slow someone up behind you. Maybe he won't loose as many balls that way.

That's a transfer fee from an owner (who gives up their rights for the period) to transfer to a renter. Only people on the deed have full privileges (unless the rent out and transfer the rights).

Yes, after hitting the magic number of strokes of double the par (6 on a par 3 hole, 8 on a par 4 hole) you are supposed to pick up your ball and record the score on your card. This is golf ettiquette in The Villages. Do not take your bad golfing friend to a Level 4 course such as Pelican or Truman. He will not enjoy the experience - and will lose many, many balls. (The $50 fee for a card only applies for a renter and not to a guest.) |
