Default Walking the dog during a hurricane/storm

Not going to be convenient to walk your dog during the hurricane?
Suggestion from the Everglades Angels Dog Rescue:

"HERE'S A GREAT IDEA for anyone who will be stuck inside for the storm. Put a piece of sod in a baby pool or plastic bin and keep it in your garage or safe place for your dogs to go to the bathroom, since they can't go outside."

Been worrying about this. I may be cleaning up some pet messes if worse comes to worse. 36 hours is a long time to cover a dog's usual business.

I bought 3 trays of sod plugs yesterday and they made a nice square of grass that is now in my garage. This is the "emergency potty" should the wind be so strong my dog flies like a kite!

Honestly this has never crossed my mind. I have a dog that is scared of things and will be apprehensive during the wind, but I imagine she will go out and do her thing if I take her...

Will let you know Monday!

A relative told us about this idea early this morning, but it was too late to get sod as the places that had it were sold out or not open. Something to put in the bank for next time. Instead, we picked up cat little to put down in a large plastic boot tray we have and all we can do is hope that the dogs use it......

Note: The pool is also a good way to store water for flushing your toilet...

my male dog will sleep through the storm.
My female dog will want to attack any lightning
or thunder or noise from wind. She wears a
Thunder Jacket and still goes crazy.
Wish I had her energy.

If you take your dog out, be sure to use a leash. They could be spooked or confused by the wind or rain.

DO NOT open your garage once we get into high winds. If the dog has to go then put down some papers in the house. Keep the interior of the house as secure as possible.

I would not take a dog out during this storm. Doing so means your opening your door. Keep it tight as possible.

My dog is under the bed and probably won't come out until this thing is over. He can hold it!
